My new 91/30 is shooting about six inches to the right at 50 yards and so I need to drift the front sight to adjust the point of impact. Is there any special trick to this or do I just tap it across with a soft punch?
Really just want to make sure that the front post doesn't need to be unscrewed or the unit heated or something like that. It's tempting to just whack away but sometimes it pays to step back and think first.
Look at the sight there should be a punched like that is the factory zero. Also the rifle was designed and shot with the bayonet on, so the harmonics of the rifle without the bayonet are not the same, hence the Point of Impact is not the same, so I'd try it with the bayonet and see where it hits.
It is a simple drift adjustment. It took quite a bit of hammering to finally break mine free to get it moving, so don't be worried if its stubborn. These things can take just about anything that you can throw at them and still come up shooting again.
