Thought this one was better than most. Still like top Shot more. But like has been said, they need a wider audience than just shooters. If they just looked at us, well the show would not last a season. So they narrow it down and make it entertaining.

Personally, what I would have a problem with, If I was being featured in this show is they make him look like a crazy moron at times. I mean shooting himself with that bazooka. I am SURE he was 99% sure that it was not going to cause harm. But the show played it like he had no idea if it would hurt someone or not and was just letting someone shoot him to see what happened. Same thing with the Cannon on the first show.

The man has been running that shop for a while, he does a pretty good job (IMO), putting these items together and you can tell he has a passion for firearms. I cannot believe he is as dumb as they make him look on some of these shows. If he was, he would not be in business. That would be the only thing, if I were in his shoes, I would have an issue with. I am sure this is majorly helping his business, which is probably why he allows it at all, but truthfully, it is annoying.

Come on guys, you gotta learn to love it. It's an unreal reality show staring a bunch of Bufords hacking up overpriced toys for staged "customers". Just wait, it'll get better when the dad and the brat daughter have a falling out and she starts her own exotic firearms business, teams up with Paul Jr. so they can make a chopper with quad nickel plated surpressed street sweepers to give to Jessie James and Kat Von D for their wedding present. I'm so thankfull I have Netflicks so I can just watch a John Wayne movie.

I have spoken to Will twice on the phone. The first time I spoke with him I knew the guy wasn't dumb. Second time reinforced it. Tiger McKee was also a good guy to deal with.

I know a few guys associated with RJF that are not on the show - all good guys. They have spoken vey highly of the gunsmith Vincent Buckles. IE we haven't seen what he is good at on the show. He was well regarded before going to RJF.

The show does not reflect the normal reality. I have a good friend that was interviewed several time to be on the show. The cast member are not to disclose any to the content, including what did or did not happen behind the scenes.

I bet these videos contain more technical aspects but would not get 15 million viewers.

It probably has a formula much like other Real TV shows.
Somebody has to be the Hard butt, we need a clown, a neutral type and on down the line. There was a "hot chick" hired but don't know what happpend to her.

It may help them or break them. They will probably make as much money off of t-shirts and RJF apparel as anything else.

I would not want to be subjected to editing.

Man that is funny!

They are primarily a AK shop, CNC mills not required. Make no mistake they do make AK variants that are as much artwork, as the shops that specialize in custom sporters and such. Most of the show you see are projects designed especially to create a episode. While I would watch them repetively make differant AK variants over and over each and every day, John Q. public would tune out rather quickly. The Red Jacket Firearms that you see in the show has very little to do with there normal day to day operations. the show is geared towards the everyday Joe Shmo who wants to be entertained and kinda likes guns.

good god did you see those "Welds" on that "Bazooka"

$1000 Each!... there truly is a sucker born every minute.

I guess Will must of had a bad day last week...He seemed much more friendly to the single mom who showed up wanting to buy a firearms than he did to the yuppie couple that came in last week. He even went so far as to recommend a local trainer and shop for her.

Last week, all he did was ridicule the couple that came in.

I caught this show for the first time the other night and couldn't get through more than 10 minutes of it. It seems very fake to me...like West Coast Choppers for guns. Too much scripted drama.

seems like a few ppl working together that like their jobs and have fun doing them. im sure its more than a 3 man operation or they would get nothing done. its not security camera footage of the shop lol its edited.

I think recommending a trainer to the single mom who was reacting to a one time event was a great idea. SHE HAD children in her home and no prior gun experience.

The last couple i had the strange feeling the blond got turned on by guns and the man had no earthly experience with firearms.

they seem to make nice weapons i have not inspected them for myself but wouldnt turn down the chance to put one through its paces.

Since there is an increasing feral pig problem they could come up with some type of portable "quad AK" device that can be mounted on a hunting truck.

Can anyone remotely imagine 4 semi auto rifles firing into a sounder all at once?

I'm not going to debate the effectiveness but just the challenge of a decent fabricated triger system, but then again what would be the market?

I don't normally post near nonsenses comments here but this is a reality show that has to thrive on creativity.

I've only seen a little of the show, but it had me cringing when the tommygun they were converting malfunctioned and he said something like "that would kill whoever was shooting the gun and everybody around them." That kind of talk is not helpful in changing the minds of anti-gun people or people on the fence about guns.

I don't really feel the SWAT entry team needs a modified Thompson to begin with. When I think of entry team I think of fast and accurate, not spray everything in the room...

Will Hayden is a very proficient builder of quality firearms. He has built many for me over the last 6 years. The tradeoff is that he has to balance the needs of the Discovery channel and their desire to bring in a wide audience. I'm sure he would like to showcase a show that would target gun owners and builders. On the other hand, Discovery would probably like a show that is more like "Seinfeld with guns". Somewhere in the middle is what we end up with. Still a good show IMO. Last I heard, the show had 18 million viewers, total. That's real money in terms of advertising dollars.

I'm pretty sure that wouldn't be legal, at least here in louisiana they ban hunting from vehicles... I thought that was pretty standard fare for the us though

Shooting feral pigs from the back of a bronco probably would apeal to a small section of the viewing public but overall it would most likely kill the ratings for the program. Reminds me of a WKRP Cinncinnatti episode when they threw live turkeys out of a helicopter as a Thanksgiving promotion before they realized that domestic turkeys can't fly. They hit the ground like sacks of wet cement.

I like the idea of Seinfeld with Guns. Elaine does a funny dance while shooting full auto. George keeps cutting of the barrel for 'shrinkage'. Kramer comes into Jerry's apartment unannounced for the 400th time and Jerry shoots him with a Judge using birdshot!

I will agree that the custom entry guns - the Saiga under an AR or now the Tactical Tommy are a little out there. Waste of money given available systems.

The stunned look and the phrase "as god is my witness I thought turkeys could fly" will stay with me forever. :D

"As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly..."
-- Gordon Jump as Arthur "Big Guy" Carlson

One of the funniest episodes of one of the funniest sitcoms of the 70s.

Edit: What I get for replying before reading to the bottom of the thread.

I'm entertained by the show, but Im afraid that the full auto stuff in the show makes sheep think that a full auto weapon is a widely available "assault weapon". The public image of an assault weapon is entirely different than what the government calls one. I don't tend to like things that blur that line further.

I couldn't believe that a shop full of supposed gun guys didn't know what an M203 was.

IMO, it's a lame formulaic show.. like all the other scripted "reality" shows are..

if anything, the contrived personalities will end up reinforcing the "bubba" aspect of firearms..

This show is edited folks....like any other TV show. The camera crew is there for days and days taping footage and the editing crew works it down to 30 minutes. Of course it's going to contain 'fake' drama and whatnot. Don't hate on the company so much, they don't dictate what is shown in the final 30 minutes of footage.

sometimes even a good topic can't overcome lousy scripting. I'll just spend my time posting how lousy glocks are :)

Well, Dudes:

I hate to break this to you, but I just read on another site from Will that they have already been signed for a 2nd season :neener:
