Well,

I got inspired by a thread on another forum and finally decided to try my hand at doing a camo job on my Savage's stock. I think it turned out pretty good for my first time ever doing this.

Let me know what yall think!

Thanks,

Gavin

Got me a 110FP in .223. Just put a prostaff scope, sunshade, and leupold rings and bases on it and want to find a Choate Tactical stock for it. Then I will be doing the camo treatment to the stock as well.

Sounds like its going to be a good looking rifle bud. You should be able to find a Choate stock at Midway, at least I think I remember seeing them there.

This one here was just done with the Krylon camo in Khaki and OD Green using pine needles to make the shading.

Thanks for the compliment Moose

Yeah Punisher I suppose it is a pretty common style of camoing something but that means it must be pretty effective too lol :D

Thanks for the compliment and the laugh Birddog lol. I actually added some of the brown Krylon to it today because it was pretty light colored. It almost looked gray sitting in my closet that has a pretty bright light but looked the same outside as well. I'll get some updated pics of it with the brown in a few days once I can find (assuming I can find) some flat clear coat.

Don't be scared to do it Jay. If you don't like they way it turns out, it's super easy to remove or cover up with a different color (assuming you use Krylon or some other spray paint).

I just did my M&P 15 last week. Winter lay off and unsecured paint cans are a dangerous combination. :)

It looks good AK! Well the second pic does can't really see it in the first pic lol ;) Looks like it's doing it's job and doing it well.

Thanks, yours looks good as well. Painting your guns quickly becomes an addiction, doesnt it? :)

I also started a camo job on my Savage over the weekend. Yours looks real nice. Mine isn't finished yet, but if it looks half a good as the ones here, I'll be happy.

I'm jealous of the skills you guys have. Even if I knew where to start I couldn't pull anything like the above off...not even close.

The hardest part is getting up the nerve to do the first gun. Once you get past that, watch out! :D

Its really not hard at all.

Yea it does Ak lol...I'm starting to regret not having any other sythetic stocked rifles or shotguns lol. After I added the brown to it and let it dry I took it and set it up against an oak tree and dang near lost it.

USAF, anything has to be better than the black/grey stocks that the Savage's come with. Just take your time doing it and don't get in a rush. I'm sure it'll look great when you're done. Looking forward to seeing pics of it.

Bones it really is very simple. Here's the thread that inspired me to try my hand at it. It even has a couple of walkthroughs on how to do it. I didn't think mine would turn out as well as the others I have seen either but you just gotta give it a try. If you don't like it just put some rubbing alcohol on a rag and wipe it off. Just make sure to degrease your stock before you paint to get all the oils off.

You can paint over wood without any troubles too. You dont have to sand anything down either, just degrease everything well and have at it.
