Break Free CLP

You want something to "Get the Lead out (or rather copper) try this:
http://www.deatonsguncare.com/
Deaton's Deep Clean. It works wonders. I used it when I broke in my 250 Savage. You can clean your bore til you can't get anything out of it, with your favorite copper solvent. Then run a patch with Deaton's and let it sit for 2 or 3 minutes. Then follow it up with clean white patches. The first white patch will come out dark blue. Then go shoot it and see if it doesn't act like it's improved. I love the stuff.

CLP, as has been mentioned, is a jack of all trades, master of none.

I use CLP almost exclusively, except for synthetic molybdenum grease on specific wear parts, such as the bolt assembly of my M1A. This helps simplify my supply logistics, and I've yet to really have a problem with just using CLP.

Been hunting/shooting and cleaning guns/weapons for over the last 30 years. Only two things I have used for cleaning is hoppes #9 and breakfree clp. This also includes my time in the military and being an armorer for my dept.

Are there better products out there. Sure there is. But will they cover everything these two will on an individual basis? probably not. At least not the clp. I say use whay you want as long as it works for you. Me I like to K.I.S.S.

I use it exclusively, for 15 years or so. as someone else here said

"Some say it is cheaper to use motor oil. I am sure it is, but it takes so little CLP to clean a gun I doubt I would have saved enough buy a pizza every five years. "

I agree, you don't need a lot, I'm still on the gallon I bought about 10 years ago.

I have Hoppes #9, but haven't used it in a long time. it's so easy to push a patch with some breakfree thru the bore after each time I shoot, I never get a build up it can't fix.

never had a problem with CLP. i use it on everything - shotguns, revolvers, semi-autos, rifles... heck it even loosened up a doorknob that was corroded and wouldn't turn from the salty air. patio furniture also. CLP is my go-to solution for just about everything...

I use breakfree CLP as a lube. I'm still a fan of the Hoppes #9 for bore cleaning. I've started using a pure carnuba wax for protecting the outside of my 1911 and am pleased with the results.

It sure works well for me, but it is not the only product I use. CLP is great for carry in a range bag which is what I have done for years.

Regards,

I use breakfree for the most apart as it is a good all around cleaner/lube. Slips 2000 is better but I can't get it locally.

Motor oil is really probably the best. 0w30 is a wonderful thing :)

I have used and still use the origional CLP on all of my guns, and that includes using them in below zero in Alaska, to the temporate rainforest, to the Texas desert, and it's done all i have ever asked.

I've been using it since the late 70's or early 80's, and i don't see any reason to change now.

Why I dont use it:

One after seeing the results of a rifle cleaned/lubed with it and then not used for a long time...it was gummed up. (not my rifle)

After seeing that, "it dawned on me".....ever notice how the plastic dispensing tube and aerosol nozzles are gummed/blocked after a while ?

Anyway, just some observations. YMMV
