I don't see how shooters can consider voting for Dean.
He's a wafflin' man if I ever saw one and trims his ideas for each audience.
A few weeks ago he was saying he wanted to "get religion out of our elections." Now that he is trying to work out a "Southern Strategy," he told people that Job was his favorite New Testament book (Its in the Old Testament) and calls himself a commited Christian.

He used to be for Federal campaign money and the limits that came with it. Now that he's raised some cash on the Net he is rejecting the limits he tried to get all the other Dem candidates to pledge to adhere to.

With enough waffles to fill the IHOP, how can we believe what he says about guns?

His idea of letting states and cities violate the Second Amendment at their whim, would make a trip from Michigan to Florida, or maybe even to Wisconsin, a pretty tense experience if there was a semiauto firearm in the the trunk. This is the way things are for gun owners in New Jersey, Denver, and Illinois now. Why vote for someone who says he wants to make the Balkanization worse for gun owners?

The more he talks the worse he sounds.

He also wants to raise taxes on everyone. That would make buying more guns difficult, eh?

I've said it before, that "let the states decide" junk won't gain pro-gun votes in MD, NJ, NY, OH, CA, MA, etc.

Bush ducking the issue doesn't help either, but for many reasons already stated here (judges, party platform about guns, etc) its better to have a gun-neutral Republican than a gun-neutral Democrat (and Dean is iffy*IMHO) as President.

*iffy cause gun rights in Vermont were part of the state Constitution way before Dean was the Gov. President Bush did at least pass CCW in Texas while Gov.)

It's a good thing that the AWB renewal is right before the elections...if things go badly there will be a lot of gun owners out to vote, and hopefully they would all see what a fraud bush is when it comes to guns in such a case.

Dr. Dean also waffled on Osama Bin Ladin.

First he said if caught OSB should "...have a fair trial."
Later he said, "aw shucks" maybe if the troops found him in the field it would be OK (sorta) to shoot him.

Dr. Dean is awfully forgiving of the guy who plotted against us, struck us, and killed 3,000 US citizens a little over two years ago.

Well put, Standing Wolf......

Bush is a saint when it comes to guns, compared to what Dean and his party would do.

I agree with standing wolf. Either Dean is a liar, or he doesn't know where he stands until he gauges public reaction to one position. Either way, I don't trust him any farther than I could throw him. However, if Bush renews the AWB, i just may give myself a write in vote. :banghead:

Yes. But I don't see any evidence that Pres. Bush is pushing for the AWB to be continued.
Dean would push for it IMO.
He also pushes a lot of other stuff that I don't like.
In another post I figured out that Dean would cost me $2250.15 in increased taxes.
This does not fill me with joy.

it bears repeating:

that Dean has played himself as an outside Democrat, not an insider.

But should that waffel-er win, who in the party structure will that SOB be beholden to in the Senate? In the House?

So if the Dems win, and SCUBA Ted and Diane and the rest run up big anti-gun legislation for payback--do you guys really think that Dean will hold 'true to his roots' and veto it?? That guy is going to be doing all he can to suddenly become part of the giveaway team.

If you do believe this, what have you been drinking or smoking?

The Democrats as a national party are LOST for the current generation, period. We should NEVER trust them (as a NP) until they figure out another way to get votes, and they cannot figure out another way until that particular brand of totalitarianism is so discredited that they can gain some other minority vote to replace it.

Well, if Dean or any other Democrat were President, those Republicans in Congress would really for damn sure know not to send any gun bans to his desk! Right? Isn’t that how the great political genius G. W. Bush is going to avoid re-authorizing the “assault-weapons†ban?

~G. Fink

Well, you can always take Madonna's advice...

I am writing to you because the future I wish for my children is at risk.

Our greatest risk is not terrorism and it's not Iraq or the "Axis of Evil." Our greatest risk is a lack of leadership, a lack of honesty and a complete lack of consciousness. Unfortunately our current government cannot see the big picture. They think too small. They suffer from the "what's in it for me?" syndrome. The simple truth is that the current administration has squandered incredible opportunities to bring the world together, to promote peace in regions that have only known war, to encourage health in places that are ravaged with disease, to make us more secure by living up to our principles at home and abroad. The simple truth is that the policies of our current administration do not reflect what is great about America.

Thankfully, there is now a candidate running for President who is committed to ensuring that our country lives up to its promise and its people. He is a decorated soldier and a respected diplomatic leader, who has already given 34 years to his country. He is smart and he is good. He has worked hard to get where he is and he is a national hero.

I've looked at all the Democratic candidates. I respect them all for their dedication and patriotism. But I'm supporting Wes Clark because in him I see the qualifications, character and vision that we so desperately need.

What you are seeing here are politicos at work! They are weather-vanes. They turn wherever votes could be catched. Bush is no exemption.

This works EVERYWHERE in so called "democratic western countries". Nice word given for the voters in German: "Stimm-Vieh" (equals "voting-sheep").

At the end it is as Konrad Adenauer (the 1st German chancellor after WWII)said after journalists catched him lying: "I dont care about my stupid statements yesterday" and, most interestingly (he's a forerunner of Clinton, but very much smarter) "I don't lie, I only expand the boundary of truth".

Politicos at work.
