Opinion on Remington .22 Target ammo

This looks very nice.
I think I will buy it.

Thanks.

BTW: What would be the largest
game you could hunt with that cartridge?

I was not impressed with it today. Of course, it was blowing 15-25 and blizzard conditions... but still, not any better than regular remington wildcat....

^^^^ Your girls got you shooting in the snowstorm again?:D Now I am jealous, I had to work all day. Oh well to the range tomorrow to try my new Missouri Bullets 45 ACP LRN and see what my S&W likes best.:p

To the OP I had such poor luck with my Rem .22 green box that instead of giving them away I pulled the lead to melt down and scrapped the brass.

No, they are out of town! I did it just so I could have a submission to the rimfire match... lol... AND, I did not follow the rules and shot 5 times each target so only my worst three shots count, and with a snow drift inside the front lenses of the scope and the wind in my face I had a hard time holding zero....

Have fun out there today! Let me know if you ever come down here on a weekend and we can hit the range.

In your case, I would shoot CCI Standard Velocity ammo which is available at Dicks Sporting Goods at $24.99 per brick of 10 50-ct boxes. Sometimes you have to ask for it as in my local store they keep it tucked behind the other 22 ammo. It is good stuff and generally more reliable than Remington. Honestly, you should try both and see which one you like better.

i shoot federal bulk and cci blaser bulk. 38 euros for 1000 rounds is cheap.
i pau about 27-30 euros for 525 rounds.... so u should feel lucky that u get it so cheap.

hypervelocity for target wouldnt be recommended since they have poor accuracy. hypervelocity over all is just a waste of money in handguns imho.

i still have a few thousand rounds of winchester hypervelocity HP but i bhought them because i got them for the same price as bulk fed. but due to the large HP they have problems feeding in my mk3.

ive yet to have a jam or dud with cci blaser and ive shot alot of it.

I see these types of comments on the Remington rimfires, and they always make me wonder what I'm doing wrong.

I use the bulk Golden stuff, and periodically include the Target loads when I do rimfire testing with handguns & rifles.
I simply am not running into anything like these reported failure rates.

Most of what I use them in are new guns, which may make a difference.
My own are a Marlin, a Winchester 9422, a low-mileage Buckmark, and a high-mileage 1975 Ruger Single-Six.

It's quite rare to run into duds with any of those guns, with any of the Remington loads I run through them.

In the specific case of the Target load, though, I've never found it to be any more accurate in any gun than Remington's non-Target stuff.

Remington 22 ammo is excellent...If you're looking for ammo to use as ball and dummy practice. 30+ years ago it was very good. Today, not so much. I have not purchased any for nearly 10 years because of the % of duds.

I serve as a range officer at our local indoor range. If someone is having issues with their 22 not going off, the first thing I check is the brand of ammo. 90% of the time its Remington, and usually the bulk packs. While no manufacturer is immune from a bad lot from time to time, Remington seems to thrive on poor quality control when it comes to their 22 priming.

Remington's 22 problems are well known among Bullseye circles and everyone avoids them like the plague. I have a couple of cartons of Remington standard velocity that I know are over 20 years old that are the most accurate ammo I've found (1/2-3/4" @ 50 yards) in one of my target 22 pistols (I picked them up from a retiring Bullseye shooter). However I never use them except for slow fire because of the % of duds. They can't cut it when it comes to reliability, I have used 6-7 cases of CCI standard velocity in the last 11 years and have yet to have a dud. While it doesn't shoot quite as well as the old Remington (about 1" larger group at 50 yards) it goes off every time.

FWIW

I still shoot a lot of Thunderbolts. Yeah, I have a few FTF's. I don't worry about it. The old Remington 22 ammo from Pre-1980 pretty much goes bang just about every time whether it be the cheapest or most expensive of their offerings. I would love to focus in just when Remington's QA/QC went down hill. People's comments are all over the place in terms of time or date. I generally never had an issue with any Remington 22 ammo prior to 1995 or there abouts, but I stopped buying for about 5 years as I had plenty cached and wasn't shooting much in the 1990's. Remington was in fact my preferred 22 ammo except when shooting my HS Victor that seemed to prefer copper washed ammo (less lube).

I've used quite a few brands of .22LR but have found these to be the best:
