Must admit defeat!!!! I got a new spring (wolff) and since that time have had not one failure! I will tell you that the Sig springs are PURE JUNK!!! I will also tell you that the springs in the mags are also JUNK!!!!! Got the new Wolff ones and not one failure. SIG jumped the hell out of this one and what they gave us was first NOT TESTED and second simply a COPY of somthing that ruled the market! I love SIG but hate the hell out of a lie!

Just out of curiosity..how old is your 238, and what is the round count? I have a 238 that is bout 1 year old, and the round count is well over 300, and absolutly NO problems. I am not defending Sig, but I believe that you need to post alittle more info when you post something like this...

My experience; the magazine springs are fine, but the original round recoil springs were not good; they became distorted far too easily and very quickly.
The new flat recoil springs seem to be much better.
Also, apparantly newer P 238s have undergone some minor changes that have made them, overall, more reliable, such as thicker walls in the slide.
The P 238 I have is working fine and I think it is a good gun.

There's a replacement I'd like to make, where do I find that? I replaced the recoil springs in my Officer's with IMSI flat wire spring, and believe that I'll never have to do it again.

I've had my P238 for about six months now and am still on the original spring with about 600 rounds and not any kind of failure.

Never owned one but put about 200 rounds through a friends with zero problems. Sig P238's are like any other gun, they'll have the occasional lemon. I don't think the occasional issue is reason to abstain from Sig any more than the occasional "Kaboom" is a reason not to buy Glock.

Out of the box I thought I'd got a lemon as mine wouldn't go two mags without a failure to go fully into battery. I was about to send it back, but had an unexpected chance to shoot it one more time and it functioned perfectly for 125 rounds (all I had with me). Previous time out I gave up on the first and what seems to have been the last failure.

Mine has the "flat" coils recoil spring. Judging from some finish wear when I cleaned it again after it worked last time out, mine had some slide to frame binding up front that was causing the issue but resolved with some shooting.

Only more time and shooting will tell if its really going to be reliable now.

Thanks for the source info Tommygun, coincidentally, that is where I bought my P238 HD.

I also would be interested in the date on your gun Joker19.

I just bought a new Nitron built in 9/10, I had three stovepipes within the first 50 rounds. Using the same ammo I continued to warm it up and after an additional 150 rounds I didn't have any other FTF.
The gun or I also became more accurate.

I'm really happy with mine.
