.35 Remington and 30-30 in a Marlin 336
9mm in an M4. This one may sound odd, but if you ever try one you'll understand. It might not make a good weapon to take to war, but in a home protection role it works great, and it's a cheap plinker with my cast bullets and reloads.

The 9mm should go with the "Glock 19", if it has to be the choice on paper then the 92 wins
The 308 goes with the Remington "sniper rifle"
The rest are about right, 40 has to be Glock, 357 has to be a S&W model 19, or Python, 38 Either a colt or S&W, "I can't decide that one", although a Detective Special was my first Gun on my first permit. 22 is definatelly Ruger, 45 only can be a 45 "colt 1911"
44Mag is "dirty Harry, no discussion there.32 is seacamp, forget keltec, seacamp brought it back from the dead, lol, 380 walther ppk's, Bond of course.10-Glock for the same reason as the 40. What's left other than a few odd ball like 41 mag, 22 mag,a few others, 38 super definatelly Colt. as is the 45 long colt. Then the 32 magnum that I believe made a short comback in S&W revolvers. What's left in pistols? 17 and 327, both dissapointments, I have to think about what I missed. Ok 25, any ideas, Raven,Bauer, colt, had a couple as back up guns in the 60's and even 70's LEO's unercover brother. The Bauer was an under rated pistol. talk about small. It was the pee wee herma, of 25's.

.45-70 = Springfield Model 1873
.30-40 Krag = U.S. Krag Rifle
7.5 x 54mm French = Mas-36
7.5x55mm Swiss = K31 Schmidt Ruben

9mm = Glock? No way!

9 x 19mm = P08 Luger: the pistol and cartridge were literally made for each other. A runner-up would be the Browning High Power. The closest a Glock would get is the fact some Glocks are chambered for the round. Hint: they don't call it "9mm Glock" for a good reason - it isn't.

.32 ACP and .380 ACP should be Colt or Browning pistols but the Walther PP, PPK and PPK/S have become so closely identified with the calibers that it's probably no contest.

.38 Special = Smith & Wesson Model 10 and its predecessors going all the way back to the end of the 19th Century.

.357 Magnum = Smith & Wesson Model 27. I would like to say Colt Python, the finest handgun ever made in this caliber, but reality tells me it's the S&W.

.41 Magnum = Smith Wesson Model 57.

.44 Special = Smith & Wesson Triple Lock Hand Ejector.

.44 Magnum = Smith & Wesson Model 29.

.45 ACP = M1911 or Colt Government Model.

.50 AE = Japanese anime cartoons. ;)

Isnt the point of the thread.. which gun is best suited for a certain caliber so with that in mind a luger will outshoot a G17? or is it what is the most popular or the first?

I would say that

.338, .416, and .50bmg are bolt gun calibers. The point being if you are using these rounds then you are so far away a semi-auto is (almost) unnecessary.

.22lr - ANYTHING
.410 - Shotgun, Long Gun, the Judge was funny as a joke but it can stop now.

Handguns:

.22LR - Ruger MKIII
.32ACP - Walther PPK
.380ACP - Beretta 84/85
7.65x21 - Luger
9mm - Beretta 92
.40 S&W - Glock 22
.45 ACP - 1911
.38 Special - S&W j-frame
.357 Magnum - Ruger GP100
.44 Magnum - S&W 29

Shotgun:

12 gauge - Remington 870

Rifle:

Too many to list!

.44 S&W Special - M24 S&W
7.63 Mauser - Mauser M1896
44-40 WCF - Winchester M1873
.38 Long Colt and .41 Long Colt - Colt M1877
.30 Carbine - M1 Carbine
.33 Winchester - Winchester M1886

The 444 Marlin lever action chambered in the 444 marlin cartridge seems intuitively obvious.

K38 Masterpiece

The quintessential .38 special has got to be the S&W K38 Masterpiece.
(That's a Model 14 for you youngsters).

Here is mine:

After all of this, and the smell of dead horse beginning to seep from this discussion :uhoh:, I will second one statement made previously; 20mm goes to the Anzio gun, as does the Anzio 20/50... (the idea of a 20mm rifle is amazing and awesome to me) (and they did design that caliber (Anzio 20/50) to do what their gun does, after all!)

I kinda like the 5.7 out of the FN Five-seveN.

I also like:

22lr out of a Ruger 10/22
.357 out of a Ruger GP 100

Tough call on the .308. Hmmmm Rem 700 or M14?

Gonna have to go with the M14. I've seen 700 in other calibers. 22-250 is not uncommon and also well liked.

Although I've never fired one, I would have figured .380 for a Jennings or a Lorcin.:neener:

7.62 Nagant = 1895 Nagant Revolver

.38 Super = 1911

.45 ACP = Sig P220

9x19 = Glock 19

Pointy Stick = Kel Tec
