I'm about to try a home made lube made of 16 oz beeswax, 14 oz white lithium grease and two parrafin candles (didn't weigh them)

If anyone is using a similar lube, how does it do with .45 ACP?

There was a company that used to mfg a bullet lube that was beeswax and lithium called lithi- bee and it worked quite well.
Be carefull as the melt temp of the lithium is close to the ignition point of beeswax.
Not too sure about the candle wax though. I'd probably leave that out.

Too late to leave out the candles...already melted into the mix.

I made the lube over the weekend, but I haven't used any yet.

Melting the lithium into the beeswax wasn't easy!

I use a homemade lube consisting of the following.

Beeswax--Paraffine--Carnauba wax "Auto paste wax"--Alox Liquid

The beeswax and carnauba wax are mixed approx 50/50, about 1/4 soup can of each, I then add 2 to 3 tablespoons of alox, then "and this is hit and miss" parafine to get the hardness I wish. I add about a piece of parafine the size of an ice cube, let the mix harden then add more or if to hard add more carnauba wax.

Works fine for me with NO leading except for 9mm which I've never found the secret to.

A lot of people recommend paraffin in homeade lube recipes, but I would shy away from it because it is a petroleum product (try setting it on fire). It will likely leave more residue behind than an organic, or synthetic oil/wax. I would add some type of oil w/detergent and increase the beeswax content to get the desired hardness.

Many lube recipes are also intended for BP shooting so those folks never really care about residue. BP is so dang dirty and nasty that you can basically use anything for lube... The bacon grease left over from Sunday breakfast will do.

Lots of recipes out there based on white lithium and beeswax, so you are on the right track... but find something that leaves the paraffin where it belongs... in the cupboard.

If it were me I would get some Balistol, and mix in. That junk stinks but it is an awesome lubricant/cleaner.
