Hi, new to reloading and had noticed some differences with my selection of bullets and powders.

My Lyman manual states for Accurate 2015 .223 Remington 55gr loads a starting load of 22.5 and Max at 25.5. OAL is 2.260 CCI #400 Small Rifle Primers

I have loaded some 55gr Hornady V-Max with 23.6 gr of 2015.

However accurate's website lists a starting load at 20.5 and a max at 22.5 with the bullets I have.

Now my loading would be above accurate's max load but under in my lyman manual.

These rounds will be used in AR-15 with a 16" Carbine 5.56/.223 barrel and a .223 DPMS 20" Bull Barrel.

My question is which is correct? If my figures are correct then the pressure should be less than a 5.56 loading but possibly over for the .223 barrel.

Being a newbie I just want to make sure, and be safe. If anyone has some other load data to share with 2015 that would be great!

Also, I have ran about 10 of these through my 5.56 carbine barrel and didn't notice any signs of over pressure on the cases, which were once fired Remington and Federal .223 brass.

Are you sure the data is for the same (brand) of bullets? Also are the OAL's shown the same? Seirra lists different data for AR's and bolt action rifles.

OAL's are the same, load data is for 55gr softpoints, as Lyman doesn't list a 55gr V-Max, only 50gr or 60/62gr. Sorry don't have the manual in front of me. It is the Lyman 49th edition.

"My question is which is correct? "

Both are correct for the rifle they each used to develop the data. Your's is another yet unknown variable.

I believe what's been stated earlier still stands! Most reloading manuals will show reloading info for AR's, in another section they will show reloading info for bolt rifles- each being the .223 cartridge. The AR info will most likely be different than the bolt rifle info showed, at least my Hornady reloading manual does! The COL will be different because of the breech opening and throat length for the AR. I'm almost sure this is the info others have tried to explain to you. IF not sure, please re-read!

By seeing the number of postings made previously, and your statement about being a newbie, this why I stated things like I have.
