I keep reading about the upcoming increase in ammo prices but haven't seen much fluctuation at the local stores, Walmart and my online sources. They might be swinging by a few cents per box. Maybe .50 for 9mm.
Bear in mind that I'm buying mostly 9mm, 38spl and .223.
What have you guys seen in your areas?

I can't find 45 in my area, when I asked why, my lgs said they can't keep em in stock, he thinks everyone was tryin to stock up before they got to high. Which makes sense cause he raised the prices from 21.99 to 24.99 for the cheap blazer stuff. And .357 is almost 30 bucks a box now, it's definately gone up in my area, 9mm is still low but it went up about .50 cents though

I mainly buy online. Even with tax I can beat most off the shelf prices in my area. Prices there have been steady. I tend to buy whatever the best deal/value is in 500 or 1000 case lots. My go to is Dan's ammo where I get 500 45 ACP for $169 and 9mm 124gr for $200.

I have been able to get 115gr practice ammo PMC, UMC, Seller b etc for under $.18 a round delivered. For 45 ACP I have not been able to beat $329 per 1000.

At the local Walmarts & gun shops prices have remained the same. I shoot mainly 45 ACP and 9mm.

put this in another thread but might as well mention big 5 sporting goods often has really good sales. 9.99 for 50 9mm for one

Prices are pretty steady for me, but then again I shoot a lot of what people think are oddball calibers (mostly 9x18 these days). That stuff I can find locally has gone up around 1 to 1.5 bucks and my 'normal' calibers (30-30, .22LR) has stayed essentially the same.

Its called depressed economy - while manufacturers / retailers might like to raise prices, fewer people working (in the absence of any buying "panic") makes demand soft. Raising prices would be like cutting their own throats.

The Shootist:

You highlighted what had puzzled me in the last two months.

As people were told weeks ago by retailers/distributors to prepare for maybe 20% higher prices by May, I wondered how the economic slump can support it.
The business people must have hoped to create a little panic and resultant reduced demand and price spiral.

I can't see gun prices going up much for a while if ammo prices go up and somehow stay at that level.
