I have covetted this gun since it was introduced by S&W. I love the looks even fondled, i mean handled one at the local gun shop. They were $499 and I could not bring myself to do it. I also was not sure of the .380 cartrige. I, like many people thought bigger is alway better, but I guess I have matured somewhat on what I think is necessary and what really will pass mustard.

Anyway, I was at the local Gander Mountain actually looking for a used deer rifle for my daughter. I didn't see anything that floated my boat so I went the pistol counter and was looking at their "pocket guns". Ruger, Kel-tec and yes, the Bodyguard 380. They had it marked for $379 which really got my interest. I have an agreement with the wife that I will not ad anymore pistols unless I get rid of one. The one pistol I have that I do not really carry anymore was a Kahr P45. The is a good quality pistol but was picky with ammo. Would light strike almost everything but Federal. I've had this pistol right at 4 yrs so I went home packed the thing up and went back to see what the where willing to do. He offered me $325 for the Kahr and I was not blown away by that and hesitated. He then sweeten the deal by taking $70 dollars off the price of the body guard 380 pistol. Hmmmmmm.

I bit and took the deal. The bodyguard was now $309 which I thought was a good price. We completed the transaction along with some ammo and we were done.

I went home took it apart and cleaned and lubed it for a trip to the range. This thing was a pleasure to shoot and was far more accurate that I had anticipated. The laser worked great and the rounds were hitting 1/2 inch low at 15 yrds. I put 150 rounds of FMJ and HP ammo and it ate everthing. No failures to feed or eject. I could not be happier with this purchase. The thing fits into my blue jean front pocket with no trouble at all.

Yep. Great little gun. Got it in my front right pocket as I type this.

I was also surprised at how accurate the gun is, with or without the laser. But I do admit it took me a couple of clips to figure out the trigger.

Congrats on the new gun. I've all but decided to get a .380. The .380 seems the best solution to pocket carry.

Congrats on the new Bodyguard, but I wish I had been there to take the P45 off your hands at that price.

Congrats. All you guys getting these things has me thinking. I like 380s more and more. I have a Bersa, and am also thinking of the Beretta 85, Walther PPK/S, and now that S&W.

I like the laser on the Sigma. It seems like it will make it an acceptably accurate range gun, in addition to a nice little pocket gun. It seems like S&W is going the way Toyota is starting to, and not gouging for nice little options. It is a good strategy.

What do you think is more accurate, your 380 Bodyguard with the laser (I think it is DAO, right?) or a more traditional and a bit larger DA/SA gun like a Walther PPK/S or Beretta 85 Cheetah?

I enjoy my Bodyguard 380 and use it as EDC, but I am more accurate with larger guns, with or without laser, especially once you start moving out past 20 feet or so.

The BG380 is great for what it is designed for... daily deep conceal pocket carry, enough power to knock down bad guys who come within range. I think I'll get more accurate at the range once I master the longer, heavier DAO trigger.

Well, I don't know about a 380 knocking anyone down, but I think it would do the job, nevertheless. ;)

Excellent choice for a .380. Decent set of sights, fairly ergonomic grip frame, and a surprisingly smooth DA trigger. While I don't have any particular need or use for the laser, it does make for a useful training device with dry firing practice. Only issue I have is that the thumb safety is sort of stiff to operate and makes quite a bit of noise when it's used. Not that big of a deal as it's not really needed with the DA trigger design.

wow, it has REAL sights! impressive! that is the one thing i do not like about most pocket pistols. teeny tiny almost kind of imitation sights.

The external safety is an added feature that I, personally, do not use when I carry. I do engage it when it is sitting on my dresser.

One interesting drill I did at the range was to point the gun at the target, at maybe ten feet, and not use the sights, just the laser. I was quite suprised how quick you could get on target and fire off a round. Even a follow-up with laser only was quite fast.

I completely know what you mean about 380 being somehow more accurate than a 9mm, atleast when it comes to pocket guns with an under 4" barrel. I always carried a keltec pf9, but i recently came into an interarms ppk. Forget 10 feet, at 25 yards i shoot a 6" group or better. However its not going to replace my cz75b.

I think a number of the 380s use fixed~barrel blowback actions. The fixed barrel contributed to accuracy. The Beretta 84/85 and BDA are of this type. For 9mm the HK P7 would br the equivilent.

Good choice! I also have one in my pocket as I type this. I gave up my LCP for the Bodygaurd because of all the extra features it has. The Ruger was a great gun but the Bodygaurd is so much more IMO.
