New Diamondback DB 380 reliability???

I bought one when they first came out. Big mistake! Mine went back for repairs and updates but it was still a jam-o-matic when I got it back.

Looking at the Diamondback forum I still see way too many problems to consider buying another one.

With all the micro 380s out there why would you even consider purchasing a pistol that has been nothing but problems?

That's my question too. I like the design, but am going to wait a little while longer.

I looked at them but I decided on the LCP. It would be nice if some of these smaller companies could get up to the same QC levels as some of the larger ones, competition breeds ingenuity!

Too bad. I was interested in them too until I heard about all the problems. Too bad they haven't seemed to be able to iron them out.

Diamondback recently sent me a brand new ZD serial numbered gun after my ZA serial pistols trigger bar mechanism broke and I can tell you it's been flawless.
They made several changes to the design from the old original.
I certainly like mine.

It seems the newer Diamondback DB-380s (ZD serial #) are more reliable than the olders series (ZA# - ZC#).

This thread (with pics) from another forum shows some of the changes that were done from the older DB-380s to the newer DB-380s. It appears they upgraded from using aluminum parts to steel parts and polished the feed ramp & changed the angle of the feed ramp.

I'm still at the wait and see mode. Figure another year of other people "beta testing" it, to finally decide.

The DB-380 is the first firearm designed and manufactured by Diamondback Firearms. They do have several decades of manufacturing experience making airboats. So, it's a given that their first firearm will have teething problems. Question will be how long will it take them to grow out of it.

My father was looking into one back when they first came out. Apparently they got some former Glock employees onboard. Fortunately he listened to me and we both got Polish P-64's. With all the problems with the Diamondback .380, the LCP, and other small autos, we think we did pretty well for ourselves.

While I'm a fan of the commie guns... there is nothing wrong with the LCP post recall, and hasn't been for a long time. I have one with plenty of rounds through it that has never, not even once, malfunctioned.
