I went to a gun show this weekend here in San Antonio which was one of the better ones I have attended in many many years, (not Saxet). Any way I had asked about the new 22 magnum semi auto pistol by Kel-Tec which holds 30 rounds in the clip. All dealers stated that it was not out as of yet and one only had one which he sold for $300 over the suggested mfr. prize.

He stated that the demand for this pistol is so great that he believes he will be able to sell it for almost double the price when they began to stock it. Have you ever desired something so bad that you were willing to pay double?

Yeah that is the going price give or take a few. Talking to some of the guys here at Bass Pro Shop and academy they were quoting around $399.

Pay double? No way. The scalper prices will subside after a while. Besides, I'm not keen on buying a specimen of the first run of anything. It sometimes happens that after a gun gets out to the shooting public, flaws are uncovered--simply a matter of thousands of guns firing thousands of rounds in thousands of hands.

So that's two reasons not to pay elevated prices for something brand new.

That PMR-30 is a very interesting gun, of course, and I wish Kel-Tec great success with it.

When new guns come out these days,we normally at the shop get some in from the factory to test fire and write comments about them. I got a chance to shoot a p30. Its ok,nothing special but folks, wait about a year or so and pricing will get lower and then you will maybe buy one. Keltec has good guns. I have a P11 for the past 15 years and it works real well. I carry it with the S&W 6906 or a 5906 mags.

Not only will I not pay double for anything, I won't even pay MSRP. Too heck with that, and just on principle I'm very likely to never give a red cent to shop I see price gouging on something like that...

My brother just informed me that CDNN has them for $299 plus shipping and transfer fee.
He ordered 2 but will not be available until late Spring early Summer.

He's absolutely right - prizes did go up. Our first giveaway was a Kadet Kit, the last one was a P-07, a P-01 and a RAMI 40. :) Who knows what we'll do for Christams 2011?!?
As for prices, yes, the declining dollar, demand overseas for raw materials, the floundering economy, skyrocketing gas prices, yep, prices on everything go up - Burger Kings famous Buck Double sandwich just went to $1.39....

I saw a PMR-30 at Christmas and knew I wanted one. Came home and called around, got prices from 500.00 to "we auction them off". Found a GS in Cocoa Beach (home of Kel Tec). They quoted me 349.99 and asked for a 100.00 deposit. I put it on order and 6 weeks later got the call that it was in. Got 2 spare mags and the pistol for 399.00 + tax. I was a happy boy.

It is a pleasure to shoot, and inexpensive as well. I ordered a bunch of ammo for it and have been having a ball with it. Everyone who sees it wants to shoot it. Maybe I should start renting it out...:D

My brother and I have ordered one from CDNN. We will not get it until end of Spring maybe early summer. So at this time do you know if it likes one particular brand more than the other?

Why is it that you won't pay double for a gun that could last you a lifetime but come Christmas you'll pay 2, 3, 4 times more for the latest toy thing? Anybody got a tickle me Elmo or Furbie for cheap? I need a new target. Haha
Mike

LOL!! When I was young and foolish enough to pay double - I didn't have the money. Now that I have the money - I'm patient enough to shop around.

So in answer to your question - no.

There are 28 of them on gun broker with bids from $380 to $535 right now. Interesting looking piece!

I truly wonder If one can get a good deal on this sites. I guess public demand will dictate the prices if it is already going for $535. I would rather wait.

Kel Tec specifically recommends CCI Maxi Mag 40 grain ammo. I have put about 500 rounds of it through my PMR with no problems. I did have 2 FTFD's the first time I shot it but I put that on me. There is a certain way to load the mags and I think I messed up. It digests both the TMJ and JHP rounds with no problem.

If you go to the Kel Tec Owners Group (KTOG) forum there is some good information on other ammo folks have used. DO NOT use any non-U.S. made ammo....again this is Kel Tec's instruction, not mine.

Good luck in getting one....you will be very happy with it.

Thanks for the information Richard1963. I will began to stockpile and create a shortage of CCI Maxi Mag 40 grain ammo

Used to be pretty standard practice for the Seecamp pistols years ago.

Suggested price was something like a couple hundred, but, IF you could find em, people paid two or three times that!!

Double? I'm going to go with....... HELL NO!!!! :what: If people want to see the prices come down on these, then don't buy them at high prices. If the guns aren't selling, then the sellers will have to lower the prices. Basic rule of shopping for anything, from a car, to a gun, to eggs.

That being said, a gun is only worth what YOU are willing to pay for it.

I want a PMR but I'm not in a hurry, I get one when they are reasonable.

My brother ordered his through CDNN I think the FFL guy he does business with is a friend of his, and found them for $275 + shipping + tax + transfer fees came down under $340.
