Anyone shooting a RR varmint A4 20" or 24" barrel , Looking for some info if it works well and if it shoots tight groups.

Hardluk1,

I can only speak about my 18" varmint. I have had it for about 3 months now and put roughly 300 rounds through it. It is accurate, more so that I can really show other than the 100 yard sight in target that I have attached below. I can highly recommend the gun. One thing I did was to install the 2 stage match trigger. Really makes holding the crosshairs on the target much easier. The bull in the lower right corner is the best of them all. In the top left corner I was trying to hit all 4 corners in the circle. I also decided to have a little fun shooting at the number "0" at the top and bottom of the target. I would imagine that the longer barrels will do just as good if not better.

big mike 45 Good look'n rifle. Is yours all RR or just the upper. And bullet weight were you shooting. That bottom right group looks like what i'm hopeing for when / if I get one. Watched a guy this weekend that had just the 24" varmint upper with a different bottom and a jp enterptize trigger group and was shooting groups like that at 100 yards with some 69gr hand loads..

I have a 16" RRA Varmit and it shoots 5 shots of 69 grain FGGM sub 3/4 MOA no problem and 1/2 MOA groups aren't uncommon. Best has been 15/16" at 200 yards.

I have the Varmit A4 20". It's a tack driver. I don't have any problems shooting under .75". I have a Simmons scope with a Armalite scope mount. It's probably the heaviest gun I own but it's the most accurate.

They're good rifles but overpriced due to name recognition.

My RRA 20" Varminter will hold it's own with my Savage 12.

It shoots my handloads ranging from 55gr-80gr pills all day from .3-.8" depending on the bullet used.
I've had it for several years and have never been disappointed by it's service.

RRA rifles are built to shoot bug eye groups and so they do. My two 24 inch 1-12 twist varmints shoot ragged holes at 126 yrds--40, 50 and 55 gr bullets. These rifles are very well built with a lot of attention to detail. And are priced competitivly You will not be unhappy with any RRA rifle!!! :p

They typically shoot well. Some corners are cut, mostly in the areas more important in a rifle that will be abused. Still, most people will never push it to that point.

RRA customer service is horrible. Some of the worst out there. If something goes wrong, have a local smith fix it and be done. Good shooters certainly but terrible CS.

I have a 20" gun - it definitely shoots well. Great fun on prairie dogs.

Never had to deal with their CS.

I'd buy one again.

I do not own one but have shot it at my local range. I have shot several platforms and all were great platforms but the RRA I shot just had a better feel in my opinion. I liked it. I am not in to black rifles but lately I have gotten the bug for one and have been considering a RRA platform.

Well I thank all for the input. I guess i will be investing in a 20" varmint. Seems to be one of the top shooters out there . W think though I will buy a upper complete and stripped lower and a jard 1 1/2lb trigger. Undesided on stock design. Looks like 6 weeks + right now. Thanks for the info all.

I went with White Oak Armament upper and a RR lower with a RR 2 stage trigger, for about the same money as a complete RR Varminter. It shoots .3 - .75" groups. With good loads it hovers consistently around .5" often less. I think the WOA uppers are made with better parts and assembled with more care but, RR is still very, very good

White oak is about a 85 bucks more than a rock river varmint 24" . Are they worth more. The couple RR looked good but hard to find many reviews on several more limited names. I know they produce uppers recievers for others. I'll call them and talk to them, doubt they produce there own barrels though, maybe to there specs? I am try'n to also save a bit of money. I'm not looking to buy a complete rifle from RR. Going to build the lower up myself. over a bit of time. My prefence would be a krieger barrel but the $$$$ keep getting in the way. Try'n to just work with in my buget I set.

I have the 24" RRA Varminter in 1:8 twist and it is very accurate with heavy OTM bullets with RL15, Varget or TAC. I wish I had a prarie dog field to use it because it gets boring from the bench after a while. I would buy the 20" if I did it over again. I have an 18" medium-heavy barrel AR that I much rather shoot.
