I'm looking for a post I read a couple months ago by a guy that adapted his 22/45 to take 1911 grip panels. I don't remember where I saw it but he gave detailed instructions on how he did it. Has anyone seen this and know where I could read it again. I'm getting ready to try it.

Thanks Bullseye!!
Your maintence page is great!!
Eventually I will do a posting about an easy peep sight modification I did using a Williams fire sight front and a 1911 grip bushing attached to the rear blade.
The 22/45 is a great gun and after I get the grip mod. done I want to work on the bolt release to make it easier to work. I would like it to stick out further as it is a little short and hard to work quickly. I was thinking about drilling and tapping the center of the button to facillitate lengthening it. Do you know of a good source for small drillbits, tapps and screws?? Brownells is probably the place to start. I will probably do your slingshot mod at some point too.

thanks, actually i have a .45 that shoots .45's ,but the .22's are cheap , so more bangs for the buck ,allbeit smaller bangs !!!!!

This is great info. I'd love to see Ruger release a version that takes 1911 grips from the factory. I suppose they don't bother since the grips would need to be modified slightly, anyway.

I've got a MkII version that I wouldn't mind doing this to, as well as replacing the upper with a Tacsol version.
