anyone had any experience with bushmaster ba50's i belive they are. saw a couple on gunbroker with a couple hundred rounds of ammo for 4k. looked good, any reviews?

Yes, I bought one right after BM took over Cobb. That's a good price as mine was right at $5K after taxes. I have no complaints, mine is diffinately a shooter with 750gr Amax handloads. It still shoots the M33 ball well.

Leupold Mark IV 8.5x25x50 LR/T M1 turrets mil dot sits atop it resting in Badger Max 50 rings.

Havent read all the posts, but i think the ar50 would be worth a look. I love mine and shoot it whenever I can. Very accurate and fairly enjoyable to shoot thanks to the weight and the nice brake.

Fit and finish is good as well. If I remember right there are some nice drop in triggers you can set it up with too if you do not like the one that comes in it. BUT fwiw I have been quite happy with the one that came in mine and have not looked into it much.

Accuracy is very good, especially once you get a handload dialed in. I cant comment on bought ammo though, as I havent used any in it.

I've got a State Arms Shorty and an AR-50, both in 50BMG.
So far with my handloads, my State Arms Shorty shoots 1.25 MOA with 750 AMAX at 1000 yards.
With my AR-50 with special handloads using 800 grain solid brass from Lehigh, I've shot 0.4 MOA at 1000 yards.

My AR-50 is stock condition.
My reloads are special.
IK-98 Brass fireformed.
Primer Pockets reamed to consistent depth.
Flash hole reamed to 0.140"dia and chamfered.
Annealed case every firing.
Neck turned to 0.0195-0.0205" wall thickness
Trimmed to 3.880" and chamfered on ID.
Full-length re-size expand necks to 0.508"ID.
Weigh and sort cases to 1.0 grain lots.
Weigh powder to 0.1 grain tolerance
Weigh and sort 800 grain solid brass Lehigh 510-130's to 0.1 grain lots.
Prime carefully with CCI#35 Arsenal pirimers.
Load with XXX.0 grains of VV20N29 powder.
Seat bullet 0.125 into case neck
Check for concentricity.

24 hours before shooting:
In a styrofoam case, load 5 large Chemical hand warmers,
Load sorted by weight ammo on top of hand warmers,
Add another layer of each until all ammo is in case.
Allow to cook until ammo reaches 135 degrees F.

Shoot carefully - find out by radio call from pits at 1000 yards that you just shot a 5-shot group less than 5 inches center to center, hold heart, try not to have a heart attack, don't pass out, hope someone took a picture for you.

I do not have a picture but it was recorded as record fire in a F.C.S.A. Match at Alliance Nebraska in June of 2010. My first "Screamer" which is any 5-shot group at 1000 yards less than 7.000" center-to-center.

I had a green left handed Armalite AR-50. The muzzle brake is a complete POS. It blows so much crap back in your face, you better be wearing goggles to fire it, and plan on getting hit with a bunch of debris in the face every time you fire it off the bipod while on the ground. If you just shoot like a <edited> off the bench, well, it may not be that bad. No need to make it a repeater since you'll have plenty of time to reload it after you stop to clean all the crap off your face. The Serbu brake is a much better design. And the Serbu 50A semi-auto has a good chance of smoking the inaccurate Barrett 82A1 in the accuracy department. I guess we'll see....mine will be here shortly.

You complain about the ArmaLite muzzle brake - but it is the most efficient brake on the market, bar none. Your comment about wearing googles - you should be wearing safety glasses no matter what you shoot !!! As for stuff in your face - that only atests to the efficiency of the brake. You should be using a ground cloth when you shoot. Now you will argue against my posting here and I expect it. However when you do get your new rifle, shoot it under the same conditions, you will notice much more recoil and thus less stuff back into your face due to being a poor recoil brake. I have fired many 50 cal rifles - I make my points from a status of knowledge instead of unproven conjecture.
Of course based on the type of language you use in your posting, I know your response will be equally poor. Good luck with your Serbu and enjoy your semi-auto. Please report back to us its performance characteristics, with data based on knowledge and measured comparisons.

Did you read the latest notifications from the NRA - the Saiga shotgun will soon be banned from import - what will that do to your business - contact the NRA for more info on this subject in case you have not heard. Good Luck !!!

Having a brake with the best "efficiency" does not equate to being the best design.....not in my book anyway. The best design is one that balances an acceptable amount of recoil reduction with an acceptable amount of muzzle blast. The increased recoil of the Serbu design is well worth the increased reduction in muzzle blast.

your definition is definitely different than most peoples

to each thier own

good luck in the future and enjoy the recoil

I know this thread is old but I wanted to throw my hat in the ring on the 50 bmg owners. I have a Bushmaster BA50. I live in the north western most part of NC, in between VA and TN. The reason I am including is if anyone is around the area and never shot a 50 bmg, send me a message. I am all about letting people shoot it, if the have intrest in them. I just want to raise intrest and awareness to prevent these rifles from being banned. These are fantastic rifles to shoot and should be on most rifle shooter's bucket list. As I said , if you are near me or passing through the area and would like to try a 50 bmg, let me know. I have a friend that also has a Barrett 82A1, his wife shoots a Cobb( same as my Bushy). So we have a more than one for you to choose from.

I personally have never placed hands on one, but I have seen many people who love them. About the only ones I have handled are the McMillan (Sig version), Bushmaster of course, Bareett M95,M99,M82, LAR Grizzly, and ( handled but not fired Armilite 50). They are all great in their own right. I would love to add the Noreen to my 50 fired list. If there was enough intrest, I would love to see all of the 50 owners get together and have a couple day long range shoot. Hell, I have gun and will travel...lol. Seriously, it would be cool to meet others that share the same intrests.
