Who makes the best, dependable AR-15 magazines for the money? 20 - 30 round .223 cal
Thanks

I believe Magpul Pmags are some of the best. I usually get mine from Midwayusa ($14-30 round & $17 for 30 round w/window). I would shop
around as I do see them on sale from time to time.

Pmags get my first vote, followed by the tango down arc mags. I have yet to try the lancer mags but I plan on it soon.

Yea, definitely get yourself a couple of PMags..whichever color you like! They are nice since they have the dust cover that also pushes the rounds down to take the pressure off the feed lips. So you can keep them fully loaded without any worry about it.

pmags rock.. but if you do decide to go with standard metal mags, for the most part they are all the exact same thing with a different floor plate.. they are perfectly reliable enough for our boys in uniform.. and the can be bought for around $8 give or take.. I've used many of them.. I even have some taht were well used before I got them

P Mags or Colt, C products mil spec are supposed to be a good alternative too. I have a few but haven't used them in a competition yet.

I've got a few PMags, but most are mil-spec.

The biggest reason I got my first PMag was just to see what all the fuss was about. I still dont get it, but ended up buying more just to make it easier to tell my defense mags from my plinking/SHTF mags. I keep my defense ammo in the PMags, with plinking/SHTF ammo in my aluminum mags.

I even have a few USA magazines for realistic malfunction drills that I cant really practice when using PMags or USGIs;)

Pmags and L5 Lancer's are the only mags I would buy. Pmags also come in matching colors on top of being tough as nails!

NHMTG 20 rounders. PMAGs are good too. The big advantage to PMAGs is their resistance to bending at the feed lips which may occur and go unnoticed (until used) with a metal mag.

I like 30-round PMAGs because I can load them with 30 rounds and still easily seat the magazine with the bolt forward.

Lancer L5 magazines are not bad, but I've had some trouble getting them to feed with my 2.255" OAL match loads.

I use nothing but Brownell's and Stoner 20 round mags and have not had any magazine related failures. I prefer the 20's as they allow for a proper prone position and will work better with the short bipod.

I'll second.......or tenth the Pmags, but I also recommend the HK mags developed for the defunct XM-8. Aside form the price theyre AWESOME

I do like the Lancer L5's and their new Advance Warfighter Mags. Also you can't go wrong with Magpul.

I like all my PMAGs. Wish the 20 rounders could clip the dust cover on the bottom of the mag like the 30s can, but it's not too big of a deal.

Been meaning to try out some Lancers as well...

The HK mag is part of the L85 improvement. Its use has also been discontinued by TACOM and Naval Special Warfare due to problems. Between the cost, the problems and the weight, not a great deal.

mags are like everything else with ARs, the basic metal mags are just fine, but there is always something "better" to spend money on.. if you just want cheap reliability, get those plain government contract mags.. if you can afford them pmags are very nice

Is anyone going to doubt that it's MagPul? Even if you don't get Pmags, you still want their anti-tilt followers in your USGIs.

Magpul PMags and TangoDown ARC mags have shown themselves to be the best on the market for not only durability, but also reliability. Reliability is key. I have had significant success with both.
Most metallic mags are fine for a short time, but they tend to have a shorter service life. The updated USGI mags with the green "anti-tilt" follower are key, but even those followers are pretty marginal. They still tilt. Such is why the Magpul follower upgrade is a good idea for USGI mags.
HK mags are by far the best metallic mags on the market. However, I think HK forgot that mags are a wear item and are meant to be cycled and replaced at the first sign of malfunction. HK decided to charge $50-56 for each magazine, which prices them out of legitimate contention by all but the most dedicated HK fanboys.

Lancer L5 mags have gotten decent reviews, but keep in mind that clear polymer is not as strong as black polymer. There's some info online about the strength of different colors of polymer that can explain it better. Lancer has done a good job with the durability enhancements on the magazine, though. Kudos to them for the steel feed lips.
