i tried searching and found nothing...so nobody makes a picattiny rail with extra elvation machined into the base for the new marlin x7's. After doing some research and cross referencing i discovered that the long action x7(xl7) uses the same scope bases as the winchester model 70.

My question is this does anyone know is the same is true for the short action x7 vs the short action m70? I know they use the same 2 piece base but that doesn't necessarily mean they would use the same 1 piece base.

Warne scope bases/mounts

What's wrong with the one-piece scope base that comes shipped with your new XL-7? If you bought it used, you can get one of these from Marlin for a few bucks...

I don't know the answer to your specific question, but Warne has 5 choices in both two-piece and one-piece for the Marlin XL-7

Why do you need sloped or tapered base(s)? I thought people usually used shims or wedges to lower the front of the scope base ONLY for ultra long range shooting. Or are you just talking about raising the scope? I am sure you know that you can buy short, mid and tall height rings for that.

Do you plan to bed your scope base(s)?

You insist on Picatinny rail versus Weaver rail. Why?

i'm actually interested in the new x7vh for a budget long range rig but not sure on whether or not i can get a sloped base for it

Or you could just use Burris signature Zee rings. They use inserts that allow you to do all sorts of adjustments.

project88,

Oh, OK, the X7VH. I hadn't heard about it yet. That comes in .308 Win and 22-250 Rem, both of which would be short action. OAL = 2.80 and 2.35 inches, respectively. So that's the "XS7" family, versus the "XL7". That was all unclear.

Yeh, the scope base chart dodge sent you to, http://www.marlinfirearms.com/Firearms/scope_base_chart.asp, doesn't even distinguish between XS7 and XL7 for most of their recommendations. For two, it does. Same thing with the Warne chart I sent you to. What's up with that? Would some one-piece scope bases fit both short and long action?

Let us know what you find out. Why don't you call Marlin, or Warne?

i've actually debated taking my calipers with me and measuring the distance between the mounting holes for both the xs7 and winchester model 70 s/a. Both of the charts show the marlin and winchester using the same front and rear bases for 2 piece setups so if the spacing is the same then the 1 piece base should fit
