10+ Round .45 ACP Compact

I like my Glock 30..... it stays by my bed at night.... but I do consider it to be too fat to carry concealed ......

I trust my life, everyday, with the Taurus PT145. 10+1 and under 23 ounces. Have put 650 rounds through it with not a single hiccup. I've fed all kind of crazy hand loads and conventional ammo, not a single hiccup. Can't beat the price or the warranty. Nice smooth trigger and very accurate. Commence the Taurus bashing.

I don't have the SA XD .45 Compact, I have the XDm in .45, but owners of the XD Compact in .45 say it is one of the best shooting handguns thay have ever fired. When the XDm becomes available in a compact .45 size that will be my choice but until then I'd go with the XD .45 Compact.

I think you must have mis-read something. Glock 30 is well-respected among Glock users. Massad Ayoob, among others, has reported it to be even more accurate than the full-sized G21.

It's thick but it's not hard to conceal IWB.

While magazine capacity is a couple less than the 10 rounds indicated, you might also consider the SIG P220 "Carry".

I carry the PT145 Mil Pro as well. 10+1 45ACP.

Para Ordnance P-12; have owned three (2 steel 1 alloy, 1 SS) and am looking for another; stay with steel; weight saving in alloy is negligible w/12 rounds.

Have owned two Glock 30s'; found that they tend to twist in my large muscular hand and well trained firm grip; I feel the 30 is a case of something that should be perfect and...isn't; still want to try out the 29 tho; taking a fresh look at S&W 4513TSW and CS45.

Glock 30 is without a doubt one of the best choices in a 10 shot compact 45.

I bought a G30 a few weeks ago. I don't get the twist in my hand recoil. I had not shot anything but 9mm in a lot of years and I did not experience that. I've got about 300 rounds through it and when it gets about a thousand I'll probably start carrying it some.

Not well thought of? I don't think so. It seems pretty well loved. Lots of threads on Glocktalk about how great it is. If you want 10 rounds its going to be a double stack if you want that in .45 its going to be thick. When you find something else with its capacity, light weight, size and reliability let us know about it.

Glock 30 gets my vote, dress around the gun.

For me personally, I find the Glocks too large for my hands when in .45ACP. I carry the HK45CT everyday as my carry weapon. I can either use the 8 round for the best concealed carry or the 10 round magazine, which actually is easy to hide. HK is also working on a 15 round magazine for the HK45C and it should be released this year. I find it fits my smaller size hands perfectly, and IMO I believe the HK is of much higher quality than the Glocks. (OK Glock cool-aid drinkers, let me have it). In reality, Glock makes excellent weapons. I happen to be one that does not like them, so I buy HK pistols. Good luck with your decision!

I really like my XD 45 Compact. It points extremely well for me has reliably functioned with anything I put through it. 100% reliability is a must for me in an EDC. It conceals well, though I've so far only used an OWB pancake holster with it. I'm planning to get a new kydex insert for my MTAC Minotaur IWB holster which easily conceals my 1911 (my alternate EDC) and I'm sure I'll have no issues. All in all, I'm very happy with my XD 45 Compact and it has proved reliable, accurate, and just feels darn good in my hand. It points well like my 1911 and I like the ability to use the 13rd mags with the extension after a reload (I EDC with the 10rd mag, but keep a spare 13 on hand). I highly recommend it.

One more for the Taurus PT-145 Had mine 4 years no problems.

Para Ordinance Warthog is fairly compact. 10+1 is a lot of weight added to the light weight frame. I carried mine for several years but have gone to a Sig 232 in 380. Getting lazier in my old age.

I'm sure that when HK gets around to issuing a 15rd mag, it will be a bargain...probably $85 or so.
With my Glock 30, I can use G21 13rd mags right now...for about $25 apiece, and grip adaptor sleeves are available. I can even add a +2 baseplate to get to 15rds.
Mas Ayoob is a proponent of the G30, and has reported getting 1" groups at 25yds with his.
For myself, I have no problem hitting 10" steel plates 40yds out at my club, and seem to hit close to POA shooting at the 100yd berm.

If I have to choose I'd say the Glock. Owned one and it is a good all around gun.
I now carry a M&P 45c with 8+1. If you put up with minus 2 rounds then it is another option.

I was reading an article that said the Glock 30SF wouldn't be a good candidate for +P ammo due to the heavy throating.

Is this really an issue, or should I be comfortable in running +P rounds for defense?

Your choice but I don't feel the need for +P in a .45. big and slow has been the formula for .45 for 100 years. If you do decide on +P I'd shoot some first to see how it affects handling.

I have both a Glock 30SF and a Taurus PT145, both have been 100%

Have to add another for the PT 145.

It fits in the same "snug" leather belt slide that I carry an XDSC .40 in every day.

I've ran it fairly hard and can't say much negative about it.

10 + 1 of .45 in the same size package as 9+1 in .40...

Whichever you decide ..

If you've proven it to yourself, and you're comfortable with it.

Use it.

Either TRUST it.. Or replace it..

I like my Glock 30, never had a problem with it.
People seem to complain about the early runs of the Glock 30SF.



FYI...
Standard magazine capacity on the H&K HK-45C is 8 rounds.
High capacity (10 round) magazines for the HK-45C are available, but they stick out below the grip.
