Has anyone heard of FrogLube? Has anyone have experience utilizing FrogLube? I am getting a sample batch of the product in a few days and anxious to use it.

I was just seeing if anyone on TheHighRoad had ever heard and or used this product. Please send all feedback about this product. We look forward to your responses.

A quick bio, FrogLube states they (CLP) Clean, Lube and Protect firearms. It is made in USA from Plant Material. Completely safe, no petroleum. It is food grade, biodegradable 25 year shelf life. And a few other attributes, but I don't want to say more because I am not trying to sell the product. I just want to find others whom have used it, how was your experience using the product? Trying not to get flagged here!

We will update this thread about this products performance.

Frog Lube

Jason, I have been using FrogLube for about a year now and have found it to pretty much work exactly as the company claims it does. I have virtually stopped malfunctions, carbon and corrosion. Let us know what your results are.

I have three firearms that I will be utilizing FrogLube on. Might get a wild hair and do a few others as well. Regardless I think FrogLube would be a nice addition to EGC, but we always test the products before selling it. If we use it, we like to sell it. I'll keep everyone posted on my results, but would still like to see others opinions, reviews ect. More details the better from anyone who has used the product.

Good Shooting,

Don't it though?? I just had to read this thread because of that name! I guess if you ever had a squeaky frog, it would work pretty good! Seriously, I will be following this to see what your opinions are. Might have to have some, just for the novelty of the name.:D

I should be getting the shipment in Tues or Wed. Then it will take me a bit of time to do all the tests I have geared for it. But I'll keep you all posted on my end. Yeah I thought the name was hilarious myself, but it makes sense in the description.

Someone commented about the smells good. I heard it smells a bit peppermint...

I have a feeling the product will work just like all the videos I have seen. And I am pretty sure we will end up being a distributor for the product. EGC just likes to be able to test the products before we sell them.

I have a Canadian friend who is in love with Knight Rifles and got me hooked on them. I am craving to get that TK2000 Black Powder Shotgun! So I don't think all Canadians are that uptight lol.

its some sort of mint. I don't think it will replace my Hoppe's cologne, but I hear herbal sents are in these days.

I haven't actually used it yet, I just had some free samples sent to me. I'm not nearly rich enough to test a lube extensively enough for the test to be meaningful.

First I want to say it smells more like Spearmint than Peppermint lol.
Test 1: Remington 3200 12 Ga. Over/Under

Goal: Simple clean and lube the action.

History: This is my personal shotgun that I utilize when ATA Register shoots. It is my personal test gun. Top barrel has been treated with Dyna-Bore Coat, bottom barrel has not been. I use this gun to show top barrel with over 1500+ shots, bottom barrel about 100 shots and you can not tell the difference. Well I decided to clean it before starting the season to show it off again.

Process: I wiped exterior with Alcohol. Took a blow dryer to the barrel to make it warm. I applied Frog Lube Paste by hand. I took a bronze bore brush and applied to both barrels. Then applied on bore mop and snap caps.

Results: Amazing, easy, confident. Made the lever action super easy. Breaks open and close like the wind! Super awesome and very happy with the results. Simple clean up and the skin on my hands are nice and soft. Currently I have a bad case of Poison Ivy and made it very soothing on the back of my hands.

On to Test 2:

Test 2: Ruger Mark II .22 Cal. Pistol

Goal: Detail Gun Clean

History: This pistol had been shot 500+ rounds prior to cleaning.

Process: I wiped the exterior with Alcohol. I took a blow dryer to the metal parts to warm up. I applied FrogLube Paste by hand.

Results: I noticed I was being limited by my hands and took Q-Tips to assist in smaller areas. After I was done, I did not feel it was as clean as I feel it should be. So I did my normal routine when I clean guns. I put it in the Ultrasonic Cleaner. Scrub down the metal parts, heated the metal back up and applied FrogLube again. Even though I was not that confident in using FrogLube for the initial detail gun cleaning, I am very confident in the lubrication and protection aspects of FrogLube.

On to Test 3:

My Test 3: Will be demonstrating the Protection and Test 4: will be demonstrating the Lube.
The Shotgun, I can already tell just by open and closing it is 100% quicker..so yes that is in judgement. And! The pistol in the Second Test just feels smoother, shot 500 rounds after cleaning it with no problems. Again that is in judgement, so Test 3 and 4 will be taking that judgement out of it. I'll keep you posted.

Goal: To see the protection of FrogLube against water.

History: Four nails from the same box.

Process: Four Nails. First Nail is Study Nail. Second Nail coated with Hoppe’s #9. Third Nail coated with Renaissance Wax. Fourth Nail coated with FrogLube. The nails were placed in a water bin for three hours.

Results: All four nails showed some bloom to rust. FrogLube was the minimalist, one little point. The other three had bloom of rust surrounding the whole nail.

Thanks Al for letting me know. I just looked up Lubriplate. Lubriplate looks like it has synthetics, where FrogLube is plant based. Lubriplate offers numerous types of oils, lubercants, sprays, etc where FrogLube is either in paste or liquid form. Some Lubriplate products are fire hazards where FrogLube is not. Lubriplate has some ill affects where FrogLube does not.

I called Lubriplate and they suggest either SFL-1 or 130A.
130A
SFL-1

FrogLube you're able to use with hands and not have to worry about any reaction where I might be a little cautious with Lubriplate. That being said I never used Lubriplate and don't want to seem like I am talking bad about a product I never tested.

Just from what I have read so far and had to choose between FrogLube and Lubriplate, I must say I would go with FrogLube. I did not see where Lubriplate SFL-1 or 130A was food grade. 130A is petroleum based. And I don't believe they are completely safe like FrogLube is.

Should SFL-1 and 130A something I should be considering to offer our patrons of EGC?

Good Shooting,

Jason

Thanks for the links to the MSDS for the Lubriplate products. Pretty nasty. Did you use the Frog lube liquid or the paste for the corrosion testing? I have done some testing on my own with salt spray and salt water and have had excellent results.

You both sound like shills for the company. SB75 for sure. The low post count, and also the other posts splattered across the net on other message boards under the same name seem to support this. Any connections to the company?

Goal: To see the protection of FrogLube against water.
Why don't you compare it to other gun oriented products that are intended to be lubricant/protectants? Breakfree CLP perhaps?

Hi SB75
I had used the paste form. I have the paste and liquid form. Is the liquid giving different performance than the paste?

Hi atblis
No, I am not connected in any way with FrogLube. I am a small Missouri company thinking about investing in FrogLube as a distributor and was in search of others experience with FrogLube. I put up a few tests to get others feedback. I have only came to TheHighRoad and Benchrest Forums to talk about FrogLube and get feedback. You mention to use other gun oriented products like Breakfree CLP. I will look into Breakfree CLP and may make a test between the two. I'll keep you posted.

If anyone else has done some tests or use the product, I look forward to all comments good or bad. Thanks

Hoppes #9 is not a lube or protectant, it is a solvent. That water test seems like a stacked deck to me. You could coat one nail with Vaseline and make it waterproof if that's the only goal of the test.

If you really want to impress someone with it you need to test it in real life conditions. In cold weather does it get hard like white lithium grease? In hot weather does it dry out or get sticky like syrup? Get some dust in it and see if it gums up moving parts. These are the things I want to know before I put it on my weapon.

Hi rhodco,

I am doing a few personal tests to see how the product works for me and the sevices I provide. I have been doing research on the product for the past couple of weeks and watched 60+ videos about the product. Now no one in their right mind would leave their weapon under water, but I Trapshoot, Duck hunt, Deer hunt and a few others in rain and snow. Sure I could of used a number of products to test. I chosed what I see often from my customers. Many just leave a thin coat of Hoppe's #9. Never had someone say they used Vasoline.

So far I have been ok with the cleaning aspects of FrogLube but more impress with the lube and protection. I will be showing more tests shortly. Frankly I'm doing this to see if I like the product enough to be a distributor.

Test #5 is going to be a freezer test. I'll keep you posted.
