I would really like to hear (read) any stories of real live gun fire, weather military, police, armed citizen with pink gun at 3:00 am., or anything else. Please give as much detail as possible, such as what weapon you used as well as ammo (and remember the High Road Rules). I love America, and the right to bear arms. This thread will remind us why that is so important!

That's a leading question. Nothing personall but most folks who had to use their firearm don't usually talk about it other than in a movie. You may get 1 but I doubt it.Especially with 3 posts, you may be a nice guy but you may be an anti gun guy looking for fodder for a story on how some guys on a gun forum told you how they shot up a hooch in nam or got into a gunfight and killed a bunch of folks, we don't know you and even if we did you probablly are in the wrong place for that, this is The High Road, not tales of the gun.

I'll second that, doubledown and raise. Folks I know aren't in the habit of reliving experiences involving any type of violence with gun related being at the top of the list.

There I was...MS13 behind me. Crips to the left and Bloods to the right. I drew my custom SpringColtKimber fullsize Tactical Combat Master with fully ramped barrel and ambi safety that I carried cocked and locked in a Double Throwdown Tactical holster. Just in case it got serious, I unsnapped the cover on my 6-pouch mag holster and prepared to do battle.

I doubletapped the first three and executed a 1-second tactical reload. They rushed! I made sure that everybody got served first before anybody got seconds. The brass was piling up, and I was running low on ammo...so I reached for my backup...a .357 tactical snubbie with laser sights and three backup speedloaders loaded with 125-grain Ultra-Kill hollowpoints...and kept firing the .45 one-handed. When the slide locked back, I used the wheelie until I was out of ammo.

I went to my Cold Steel Special Forces Fighter with skull pommel...and then it got ugly.

I gutted four of'em when I lost the knife when it got too slippery with blood to hang onto...so I pulled my Tactical Folder and went to work. The bodies were piling up, and they decided to all rush me at once. I held'em off as long as I could, but in the end...I got killed.

This is all I have to say about that:

I the liutenant of a 3 man Rapid Tactical Force Team, in one of the nation’s largest indoor retail shopping centers. My job job is to defend and protect the lives of the many shoppers who currently vist this center, and in my line of work you cannot be too careful.

The Corporation’s work is the only thing I can talk about, SPECOPS may have led a more adventurous career, but his actions must have been very above-board for him to be able to discuss this much of his work with you. My “Black-Ops” history ensures that you will never know about the missions I accepted in my younger days, and Vietnam still shudders when it hears the name of a an assasin so skillful and deadly, he is remembered decades later.

I went to “condition red,” and discretely unholstered my Glock17 loaded with Black Talons. I motioned to my partner to sweep right to flank the arcade, but he was already in motion sensing the trouble in my facial expression. My partner drew his S&W 1006 and went prone behind a potted palm tree.I crept towards the arcade, when the power went out. It was an ambush! I could still see relatively well due to the full moon, shining through the building’s skylights, and years in a dark secret Russian prison center had honed my natural night vision to that of a tomcat.A perp popped up from behind the Orange Julius counter with a full auto Kalashnikov with a 75rd drum, and opened up in the direction of my partner, meanwhile two perps popped up from behind the skeeball machine with sawed off 12 gauges. Another two perps appeared on the upper level and brought down hell-fire on us from above. One had a Winchester Model 70 in .30-06 with a 10x scope and the other was laying down suppressive fire with a Mac10 variant. The perps were all sporting cheap russian NVGs.I dove under a metal bench, and lined my sights on the AK bandit. A double-tap to the chest, and a quick follow-up to the head brought him down like a sack of potatos. My partner had been hit in the leg by some buckshot but he kept fighting like a champ, he took out one of the shotgunners with a 10mm hollowpoint to the temple, while I started unloading into the glass partition that surrounded the upper level. When the sniper ran for cover I drew a bead on him, adjusted for distance, and dropped two into his abdomen. The Mac-man ran for it, at the sight of the bloody guts pouring out his partner’s stomach.I did a quick tactical reload, grabbed the 870P from the harness on my back, and did some rolls over to the movie theater and back flipped over the concession counter while unloading the 5 rounds of 000 into the skeeball machine. My partner was pinned down, I tossed the empty 870, and realized I couldn’t hit the remaining perp due to my the poor angle of attack. I had to act fast or my partner was done for. I leap over the counter again, and low crawled towards the arcade unseen. I crept behind the Mrs. PacMan game, and when I heard the perp reload, jumped up with my trusty K-Bar, and threw it into the perp’s arm, pinning him against the wall behind him. When the smoke cleared, we had three dead perps, and two very scared prisoners.

I asked my 8th grade teacher that question, as he was in Vietnam. I'll give you his answer: "They shot at me...I was in a tank...I shot back...use your imagination kid."

Most people I've met who have been there and done that don't like talking about it, and I have met quite a few people who have, and give them the courtesy of not asking them about it. I would listen if they want to bring it up, but none ever have brought it up.

I used to work with a Vietnam vet (he retired a few years ago). One of our reservist employees was going to deploy to Desert Storm and joked that all he wanted was a confirmed kill. The vet quickly shot him down with, "Trust me, it isn't all its cracked up to be". End of discussion.

I was shot down in flying over Paraguay and after crashing I was surrounded by hostiles.

So I had my 1911-A1 CombatHamster, my Machete, and my bottle of Jack Daniels.

To prevent the loss of booze I drank half of the bottle and faced the first wave of attackers.

Ran out of rounds, and rattled my machete ... and drank the other half of my bottle of JD.

I beheaded the rest, dismembered some villagers, and made my way through the jungle.

Moral of the story?

Don't mess with Uncle Gonzo when he is drunk!

JesusIs - Joking aside, I think you'll find that people who have been involved in real-life gunfights are not exactly keen to relive them.

If you are able to get a few stories from those unlucky enough to have been involved in a gunfight (yet lucky enough to have survived), I think you'll find that the concensus is that they are mentally, physically, and emotionally traumatic. Many times they turn out to be financially crippling as well. Not something worth going around crowing about.

they decided to all rush me at once.

See, this is where I realized that you were making things up. I'm really sharp about these things, you know. :scrutiny: I mean, everybody knows that even against Bruce Lee, bad guys only ever attack one at a time.;)

I held'em off as long as I could, but in the end...I got killed.

How did you post, then? Wow, they really do have an app for EVERYTHING!;)

But seriously, that was a good yarn--Gecko45 would be proud!

I remember it like it was yesterday....

December 1983 - I was in the Navy, my specialty was languages and cryptology.

1983 was a rough year for Sailors and Marines and we were looking forward to wrapping it up and starting a new year...

I got temporarily transfered to the USS New Jersey operating off the coast of Lebanon in the Mediteranean.

I was "spinning the dials" (scanning frequencies) and caught some arabic chatter. At the same time, the ships "Gunners" were changing watches (shift change for you land-lubbers) and re-calibrating their "Big Guns" (the 16inchers) - they fired off a salvo, knocking my radio dial off frequency a bit - dang them!

Ahhh, peace and quiet again.... a minute or so passes and I catch some more arabic chatter... "Ah'HAA!" I says to my shipmate - the arabic chatter on the radio was screaming about a "shell" JUST missing them by about 500 meters!!

My shipmate says to me - hey, call down to the Gunner and see if he can use that as targeting info... so - I picked up the 12MC (ship's telephone) and relayed to the Gunner about a "shell missing by 500 meters" and could he use that info"
The Gunner asked if I knew whether it was a "N/E/W/South" miss, over-shot - or fell short.... I told him I didn't know - he told me to "Stand-By"

30 seconds pass - kaaaaaaaaaa'BOOM - another one-round shell fired by the 16incher.

Moments pass - same arabic chatter says "WHOA - praise be to God... another shell hit, but this time 1000meters farther away"

We pick-up the 12MC and pass the info to the Gunner and he said - "OK, I think I got it narrowed down - Stand-By to STAND-BY"

30 seconds pass and kaaaaaa'BOOM - another one-round shell fired from the 16incher.

We never heard that arabic chatter on that radio frequency again that day.....
Bah - maybe that guy got off work and went home - who knows...........

......but the Gunner said he was pretty good shooting tight-groups at 20miles using the "double-tap" method.

Personally? I believed him.

(sorry, but as someone else posted, I don't/won't post "small arms" encounters)

Okay, fine I'll tell my story. There I was, surrounded by alien zombie bears riding giant spiders and armed with only a 22 pocket pistol that no one had ever offered to let me shoot them with and a glock that I was afraid to shoot due to the KABOOM factor. My uncle's best friend's wife's brother was with me but he couldn't decide which was better, his .357 revolver or his .45 pistol. I told him that his .357 was a Tarus and therefore inoperatable since I had owned 47 of them and all of them had to go back for repair work and wouldn't be fixed until 2215. I suggested he use his 870 but he had dropped his ammo and his birdshoot was mixed in with his 00 buck. Long story short, that was the best Arbor Day picnic ever...

We do have the makings of an excellent new cartoon show, family guy meets Rambo. We sure don't need writers, just voiceovers and animted figures. Title like Frambo, Mall ninja. Episode one, viet kong who have been hiding for decades in underground caves, dig their way to the mall of America, where they join up with Bin Ladin. Bush comes out or retirement, like "whats his name, in 24" and mall Nija Frambo Bauer is called in.

I think you have your answer, JesusismyPapa. I'm going to step on a limb here and tell that you perhaps came to the wrong forum to ask that question. There are a lot of people that will go over finer points of detail of specific firearms with regards to maintenance, repair, tuning, and ammunition selection. Yours isn't really the kind of discussion that happens here very often or for very long. Feel free to read the above posts and see if you catch what everyone is telling you.

I'll compare this to a car tuning website. You basically just walked into the door of an autoclub and asked where the street races are. If you walked into the wrong autoclub, you might be in a world of trouble. In the case here, it is kind of insulting, regardless of your intention. If you really wanted to see if there was anything... try the search feature. Feel free to use your friend Google. Heck, try looking up Gecko45. That seems to be what you are looking for. /cough, Tim.

While popular media may sensationalize it, gun battles can be a bit on the traumatic side. Especially if people that you know ended up wearing toe tags or in flag draped coffins. Well intentioned? Perhaps. Off-base and borderline disrespectful? More than likely to a large number. I'll only speak for myself with 100% certainty of opinion that I think you came off more than a little wrong.

I don't think these are the gun-owners you are looking for. Move along.

Timthestudent, that's good stuff. You left out the part about all the people you save from getting butt raped. And about all the people u kill that mall owners cover up.

^ Well, I just wanted to give some background, not "my" whole black ops/mall security ops career. It was the mayor's nephew that had his back end virginity saved, IIRC.

Oh ok. whenever I manage to land me on a job on a tactical 3 man response team for mall security would it be ok I give you a shout so you can give me a fewpointers like how to conceal carry a ar and be invisible in the mall. Maybe you could even get me a job with the corporation .

I asked one guy that came back from a tour in Afganastan if he ever shot at anyone and his response was "yes", I asked what happened to him and he said "He kinda, uh, died" and then he cut off the conversation. I haven't ever even drawn on someone yet and I hope I don't because I have no clue about how it would affect me.

One guy I talked to who was infantry talked about it alot and he was a hot head but I won't go into details about that. He loved to talk about how he was supposed to fire 1 or 2 carefully placed shots from his M2 into the driver of a vehicle to stop if he failed to stop but he would unload the entire 100 round belt into it. He isn't someone you would really want to hang around anyway.

I really did not want to OFFEND anyone, and am very sorry I have done so. Please forgive me. I live in a neighborhood where there is increasing gang violence a mile up the street. I believe one day I will be in the situation where I will have to defend the people I love, and it is not possible to practice a real live scenario, but I was hoping I could learn 2nd hand how to get thru it. I was reading a post where "LTnavy" had listed several news articles of examples of successful, and some not so successful, situations where the OP had defended their home against home intrusions, and that's where I got the idea of this thread. I am sorry I posted this thread, because now you all think I'm a stinking liberal who is out to defame the 2nd Amendment, where only the converse is true. Again, I am sincerely sorry to have offended such a great group of guys. I have gotten more help, and knowledge, with many questions about several of my handguns that I feel like we were standing around a '49 Chevy truck I had and telling all our stories one at a time. The NRA's magazine has a page dedicated to "The Armed Citizen" and that's what I was hoping for, but alas....
