After reading for about a year on all of the different Digital Powder Scales & Dispencers i chose the Smartreloader iSD Scale & Despencer because it has so many features & it costs well over a $100 bill less thanmost of the others . it has the auto charge which is when you get the first charge weighed out & return the powder pan to the scale it starts dispencing another charge great feature its very easy to use & there is a couple of features that i just love on this unit you can adjust the trickler speed & also the interval time it takes the scale to start slowing down to finish the charge thats if you keep getting slight overcharges like a tenth of a grain or two the manual is very user friendly & plain to read no tech talk .Now iam not doing this review to diss or bash NO OTHER UNIT AT ALL i just reporting how mine works my son & i have already loaded well over 100 rounds with no problems at all just a couple of 1 tenth overthrows {ive had this to happen on them all } . I loved my RCBS Chargemaster & used it alot but i got in a tight spot & had to sell it & i tried my best to buy anothero ne but i just dont have the money to spend on it so i found out about the Smartreloader ISD remember iam not "BASHING " no other mfgs products at all .My Sr iSD does the job that i require ti to do . iam very picky when it comes to my reloading tools there is no room for any junk or things that don't preform like i expect them to do Trapper 500

I have a dedicated Chargemaster for reloading my 50BMG casings.
So I bought 2 of the SmartLoader charging systems for other calibers.
But I have not used them yet - so can not evaluate yet.
Sorry !!!

Trapper I fell about the same way with mine. It really makes working up a load fast & easy. Only I can't compare to other units because this is the only of its kind I've tried.

Been looking at this scale for some time.

Trapper500, what calibers, powders and charge weights are you using with this scale? I only reload 9mm and 45ACP right now, and my charge weights would be under 6 grains. Curious as to how the trickle function works at these low throws.

I know you asked Trapper but here my input also. I charge as low as 2.0 gr with mine & use it for rifle only. For hand gun it would be to slow for me but I use a progressive for that. You can adjust the dispenser to run fast, slow or the first Xgr fast then at Ygr slow down & Zgr start trickling.

Thanks for the report. I have been looking at the Smart Reloader stuff. I am reluctant to buy foreign stuff, but if it works, it works. I have an RCBS 1500 Chargemaster scale only and I think I can justify buying the dispenser part now that my rifle reloading has really increased. I'll probably go that route. But it's interesting to see that we can buy the Smart Reloader combo for $20-30 cheaper for the whole thing than the cost of the RCBS dispenser alone. I'll stick with the RCBS avenue now, but if I keep hearing good stuff about the Chinese stuff, I will have to keep it on my option list.

ISD Scale & despencer

i use a Lee Classic Turret press for all of my handguns except my hunting loads for my 44 mag tell what ill do for ya i have some Unique in the shop ill put some into my ISD & ill let ya know how it does + ive got H-110 AA No 7 AA No 9 ill run a little test with all of the pistol powders i have & ill post the results in here for ya .I got my ISD tuned into my loads & its truly awesome how it works iam using Ramshot Enforcer for my 44 mag & the 500 S&W Nef Handi- Rifle we already loaded 50 243win with Varget on my ISD & 2 of them went over one tenth of a grain. I started adjusting the Trickle Speed & The Interval Speed &{It took a while} & got it humming like a blender to all of the Rifle powders & the Ramshot Enforcer thrilled with my Smartreloader ISD Scale & Despencer !!!

My only concern with the ISD is the long-term reliability of the scale.

My RCBS ChareMaster is out of warranty, and the SmartReloaders have basically no warranty. So I guess whichever one fails first- that's the one I will badmouth - is that fair to either?
I've had minor overcharging problems with the RCBS unit but only when dumping 235 grains of very coarse powder - I will try the McDonalds straw trick next time - over by only 0.1 to 0.3 grains out of 235 = 0.128% error (1/8 of 1%).

Smartreloader ISD Scale & despencer

The ISD comes with a 2 yr warranty from Smartreloader & you can even buy a extra years warranty that takes over when the 2 yr warranty expires .SR will stand behind their products 100% & they are also very good about answering any tech questions may arise . I have done loaded evry single round in my shop & no problems out of over 150 rounds just 3 went over 1 tenth of a grain a piece of junk scale/ despencer would not have this good of a final result i use my ISD ALOT & OFTEN & so far it held up like a champ in about 6 months or so ill post a update on how the ISD is doing remember its a electronic device & it could fail any of them can without any warning at all

Smartreloader ISD Scale & despencer

Well fellas ive got some very bad news about the SR ISD ive had to send my first unit back & got it replaced the padding on the keypad was coming loose around the bottom no biggie BUT when i got my replacement it was just a NIGHTMARE i was charging up some 500 S&W Magnum rds & i always pour the charge back on to the scale to double check for accurate 7 3 out of 4 were 2.6 griqans over & several were under by 1.4 grns THIS WILL NOT DO FOR ME AT ALL so i send tes replacement back & stated DONT NOT SEND ANOTHER ONE . i EMAIL sr & THEY SAID THAT IT WAS JUST GLITCH IN THE isd boy i got hot & called them & then called them a few cusswords that glitch could get me hurt or even killed . In view of all of this i must say that its not worth a second clance STAY AWAY FROM IT

I still love mine.
Your sentiment might be different if you experienced what OP experienced.

Good to see actual personal experience and "objective" review of products to benefit others. Public forums like THR exist to share user experience and product performance, both good or bad.

When it comes to reloading safety concerns, I recommend and tend to stick to equipment and supplies that's been tried and true by overwhelming majority of reviews/sentiments.

When I bought Ohaus 10-10 scale, Lee Classic Turret press, Berry's tumbler, NuFinish car polish, Harbor Freight digital caliper and Missouri Bullets based on forum recommendations, they were right about the actual quality and performance of these products.

I loved mine also but i cant ignore that much of a difference in my charges iam very picky about my loads I WILL NOT HAVE ONE OVER .01 tenth OVER I CANT STAND IT & iam still trying to figure out how The ISD threw possible dangerous like it did maybe the 2nd was defective it just about my luck & all of this happened right out of the box not one adjustment on nothing SR is getting the unit from where i bought it they want to test it also so ill let ya fellas know what happens

I did part of it. My sticker rolled just a little at the bottom also & I decided I could live without it long enough to have it fixed besides I can fix it myself. I often repair the tools I by from Harbor Freight. I think it's worth the money I save.

It sounds like they tried to make it right by him.

Trapper
Hope it works out for you.

Smartreloader sent me a return shipping label & iam going to give The ISD another try .Smartreloader is trying thier best to make it right & i will not ignore that either so ill wait & see how this unit does I hoping that The ISD will work SR told me that the ISD doesn't come Factory Preset & I need to adjust the Trickle speed & Interval time my self & ill do just that & see if i can tune them in ill admit i got a little angry when the ISD threw those 2.6 grn over charges SR said that it can be resolved with the adjustments we shall see ill keep you fellas updated on what happens P.S. they did put the S&H back on my CC also

I got my replacement iSD yesterday & its great thus far i did some trickle & interval times this has made the ISD much more accurate & only threw 1 overcharge of .01 of a grain out of 50 of my 500 S&W Magnums .No one can make me believe that Smartreloader coustmer service is anything less than excellent . SR does produce highly accurate & soild Scale /Despencer & is as good as any of the other brands & much cheaper if you are looking for a good scale & despencer give The Smartreloader iSD Scale & Despencer a whril i think you would be pleased with it

Even though it took 3 tries to get into operation, AND you don't know yet if the third one is going to last? Quit screwing around with Chinese junk, buy American. You'll get quality tools the first time that will last for years.

I'm not sure I see any savings over a Chargemaster purchased On Sale from a Local supplier. Maybe I'm looking at the wrong prices or my conversion skills suck. I paid less than $300 for my Chargemaster and it worked perfectly right out of the box. From what I was able to find I would have to pay $60 more and pay freight from Italy (or wherever else they might ship from).

In looking at their "Exclusive" products it looks like they've copied just about every established company's product line only using cheaper materials.

A wise old businessman told me once "It's now how much you pay, It's how many times you have to pay it".

Mine was less then $200.

You guys that just crap all over someones review & have no experience to back up what your saying cause a lot of trash post to have to read through to get the truth. If you don't want to try one fine but why crap all over someones review when they have & have something good to say about it.

Well my iSD is working very well ive loaded over a 100 rounds over the weekend & had only 2 .01 overcharges .Ill admit when iam wrong & i was the second set that the Co. sent me wasn't defective as i thought i forgot to press enter when i made the trickle & Interval times adjustments .I would recommend this unit to anyone who is needing a precise scale & despencer & a affordable price .Samrtreloader is a good company & they have worked very hard helping me get my problems resolved & I couldn't be more satafied with my ISD

Thanks for the review Trapper500. I love may Chargemaster, but I had to send mine back to RCBS within weeks of initial purchase. It's rolling on pretty well now, but always like to hear a review of another product. Especially if it is a lot cheaper.

Iam posting a picture of it up .Seems that one guy is speakling for all of you .He saud that nobody cares about this China junk .SR reloader is Made in Italy & a mfg plant .this person seems to be offened by my reviews on Smartreloader products because it not made in AMERICA & he said i was a poor American because i buy this junk from China .IF anything in any of my reviews are offensive please judt tell me & ill make things right .I dent him a email & i did tell him i thought he was an idiot he doesnt konow me for no one else all iam trying to do is help all reloaders with my reviews of these porducts . Iam jst passing along what i find about SR reloading tools .98% of my reloading tools is LEE Or RCBS & by the way the Chargemaster isn't made in the USA . If there is anyone who doesn't want to read my reviews it fine .I would not for no one to post this stuff up on my reviews its just my opinon on how they work . Ive review most every tool in my shop . he is a tip if you dont like my reviews jst close it out and go on your way thier is no use in saying thins that make me or any of us angry & after he said i wasn't a good AMERICAN to say the leasr it made me angry .I didnt post this stuff to start a war
