It makes sense to me Grunt medic:)

I typically refer to them by their actual nomenclature if at all possible.

Examples:

M1A-A1 Bush rifle

LRB ARMS M14SA ( SA = semiautomatic)

Norinco M14S ( S = sporter)

Ifn's the conversation is regarding Uncle Sam's finest...........

M14 service rifle

I sometimes dont however........on account of my not so high speed typing skills.....lol

BTW....... Nice lookin rifles here ladies and gents.

M1a love

I have a springfield m1a standard it came with the walnut stock but i replaced it with a black sage ebr stock which helped accuracy and looks awesome. Oh and the 3rd gen scope mount from springfield. i can only imagine what it would do with a med. Contour bbl. Lol

Have a Springfield National Match M1A that I traded 2 Colt 1911s for about 13 yrs ago?... since then a couple other Colts "followed me home". My wife said "oh no,,your not pulling that one again! ". Apparently I'll have to be more creative in the future. 20 rnd mags have skyrocketed in price !!

I got my wife " hooked" on the M1A/M14, and she is just as bad as I am. This might work for you and yours regarding the 1911...:)

Quality M14 20rd mags are more expensive nowadays, but the following sites is where I buy from......

http://www.44mag.com/category/m1a_m14_magazines_usgi

http://www.lrbarms.com/accessories.html

Both of the above companies sell the real deal NIW USGI (CMI) 20rd magazines.

Note: I do not work for either. Only a satisfied customer from both.

Thank you for the information and the websites to look up, I will definitely check them out. As for my wife I will remain diligent in my attempts to convert her towards the light.:):)

I am ak AK guy at heart, but got a good deal on an M1A (service grade) a few years back. I absolutley love it. I have a bipod for is nice for the range.

Your welcome Steel pony.

I ended up creating a sort of "monster"......:)

The wife has a thing for TRW parts, and she "confiscated" my one and only TRW marked magazine.

I really miss that mag.......lol

I'm in! Got my dream gun a month ago (SA M1A Loaded). Did a lot of research and came up with a very good hand load for it. I love this rifle!

I have a White Feather from the factory with the SA scope. I purchased this directly from the Reeses when I lived in the Quad Cities. I will try to post pics this weekend.

M1A "QD stud".

Anyone know where you can obtain a proper stud (QD?) for mounting the Harris bi-pod?

Bought my Fed. Ord. M14A a couple months ago from gunbroker. Came with all USGI parts an birch stock, fiberglass stock, 4 mags, 2 fiberglass hangaurds, one vented. I have since put a wood handgaurd on it, stripped the stain an put 4 coats of PTO on the stock. Bought a Bassett scope mount an its holding tight which my cheap scope mount wasn't able to do. Nikon Prostaff BDC scope. The WRA OP Rod was made sometime before 1962 an the HR Barrel an HRT bolt in 1961, ME.8 an it shoots perfect!! This might beat out my Garands for favorite rifle...? Maybe it'll be a tie.

Hi, Everybody.
I have a Springfield M1 Garand and LOVE the Rifle. I have a clip that has been modified so a tab gut out of the clip will hold it in, until you unhook the tab with a pocket knife.
I don’t remember where I got the pattern, but I cut it out of a Clip I had on hand.
The Tab allows the clip to be put in the rifle and it will stay in until removed, by using the blade of a pen knife to unseat the tab.
I am able to load 7 rounds from the top, and can top off at any time.
It is a little harder than the Mauser, but you can buy or reload your own loose ammo and just take the rifle out , pull the bolt back and load your rounds.
