Chest rig? Why not!

I've seen the standard issue MOLLE vests at flea markets for as little as $40, and that was with 2 magazine pouches and a general storage pouch included. If you want a customizable vest for under $100 you can't hardly beat that.

I was going to recommend the AK chest mag pouches from China. Cheap and durable. Chindo18Z said it way better than I can. Usually still pretty easy to find at gun shows.

I really like the chest rig for hiking with a large handgun. It balances the weight well and keeps the firearm from getting in the way of your legs and hips. Plus you can draw easily without having to dig past other stuff.

Look I know this is TheHighRoad, but really can we keep this conversation to people who use chest rigs with real firearms and reall applicable uses.....

NOT airsoft.

Thanks il 10

I would argue that I have put mine through its paces far more than the OP will with whatever rig he decides. I use it with the same size magazines, in the same manner, with the same manual of arms for my weapons (replica or not), in tougher conditions than his will likely ever see. I fail to see how parallels cannot be drawn, and wanted to share my experience with a piece of gear that the OP was curious about. Sorry if I offended you by sharing my experience in using my vest for things that weigh, scale, and handle EXACTLY the same as the OPs proposed gear, for (for all intents and purposes) the exact same type of use but over a longer period of time in conditions more conducive to wear and tear. As a fairly wide range of police and military officials can tell you, there is experience to be drawn from force on force training, and force on force applications are pretty tough to stage with live ammo. I love my guns as much as anyone on this board, but when I want to shoot at someone and get shot at, and run the kind of equipment that helps in those ends, I prefer it to be non-lethal. Experience is experience, and from my experience I know something about the OP's question. I really don't think it matters what kind of ammunition the ar-15 in my hand fires when I gain that experience.

you have to carry a lot of ammo to make a chest rig worth while. they are also a pain to setup, put on, and walk around with out them clanging around, for about five bucks you can get your self a turkish 303brittish ammo bandolier, it has 5 pockets, and are of fair size, you can sling them over your self multiple ways, dont have to worry about loosing them, and can be ditched in a hurry, also if you go hunting and feel the need to carry enough ammo to kill everything, you can hang the bandolier in a near by tree or of your stand

Its a set of tools that may come in handy, IMO like a pistol needs a holster, and 'fighting' rifle needs a way to carry mags etc
