Umm these kinds of stores used to be real common once upon a time. I'll have to look through my mom's photo collections but there are a few pictures of my great grand-dad's general goods store that had everything from rifles, shotguns, pistols, ammo, groceries, salt, sugar, coffee, canned goods, etc.. It was also a place folks could bring racoons, rabbits, fowl, sacks of potatoes and whatnot to trade it for store credit. My grandfather told of stories how folks would bring coons in to buy bullets and guns(one story was of how one gentleman traded thirty coons for a hunting rifle and a box of bullets). Those traded coons might mean folks being able to hunt larger game to feed themselves if coons got thin.
Those days are mostly gone now aren't they, FDR started with the 1934 nonsense, then we got the 1968 horror, and that 1986 ugliness. A simpler time we'll never get back. Still the store is cool and I wish we could have more of them.
