And it was glorious! They even had old school cheap beer, like Hamms and Blatz. No Templeton Rye though, and a somewhat limited selection of ammo. Good supply of fishing stuff. If anyone is passing through Prairie Du Chien, I hope you stop by Starks. Good people there, and good prices on guns. Maybe this is common elsewhere, but I've never seen a liquor store like this!

Where's the Tobacco?

Up by the register, IIRC. I couldn't get it all in one pic, so this one will have to suffice. If they set up a humidor, they really would be the ATF store!

Oh, Starks is a wonderful place. I remember it well from the two decades I lived in LaCrosse. Good prices too, and they also used to sell lots of boats and motors, etc.

Wisconsin is a mostly great state - more likely to find beer in a store or gas station that not, along with live bait, etc. (No, of course, not in Madison or Milwaukee) and now that they've changed governors maybe they have a shot at "Shall Issue" Permits to Carry...

There used to be one like that in Coolidge, AZ, but the new owners discarded the FFL in favor of turning the room that USED to hold guns into a smoking lounge.

I'd definetly pass on the Blatz/Hamm's and get some of that New Glarus (Spotted Cow).

I think its kind of funny that people joke about an ATF store but one actually exists already.

I'm knocking on wood as I type this, but if the bill is passed as written and on the schedule that my state Senator predicted, I could have my permit in my wallet by late summer.

I have never seen a one stop shopping place to feed all my vices at once. If they had a walk-in humidor, I wouldn't know what to do with myself. :D

I believe the picture posted (above, post 12) is in CO, the op is talking about one in WI.

There is a place called Kinks Korner in a small town about 8 miles from me. They sell alcohol, tobacco, guns, fishing stuff, food, you name it. Pretty cool place, but the prices suck there on guns unfortunately.

Umm these kinds of stores used to be real common once upon a time. I'll have to look through my mom's photo collections but there are a few pictures of my great grand-dad's general goods store that had everything from rifles, shotguns, pistols, ammo, groceries, salt, sugar, coffee, canned goods, etc.. It was also a place folks could bring racoons, rabbits, fowl, sacks of potatoes and whatnot to trade it for store credit. My grandfather told of stories how folks would bring coons in to buy bullets and guns(one story was of how one gentleman traded thirty coons for a hunting rifle and a box of bullets). Those traded coons might mean folks being able to hunt larger game to feed themselves if coons got thin.

Those days are mostly gone now aren't they, FDR started with the 1934 nonsense, then we got the 1968 horror, and that 1986 ugliness. A simpler time we'll never get back. Still the store is cool and I wish we could have more of them.

Foss Drug in Golden Colorado used to be like that.

You could get a used camera, a new gun, Coors, cartridges and condoms all in one trip.

Guess my age is showing, but I remember stores like that. I guess we became "civilised".
