Marlin .22 WMR bolt action rifles, any good?

I have a Marlin 25MN and am pleased with it. I get right around an inch at 100 yards prone with a backpack for a rest. I have it scoped with a cheap Simmons 8pt

not the world's best trigger,but for $150,i'll live w\it.

I have a Marlin bolt action .22 Mag also; not sure which model, has a tubular magizine???? I bought it dirt cheap but If I had acctually gone looking I'd go for the mag-fed version. The tube-feed is difficult to close on an empty chamber, while leaving the mag loaded. Other than that I love it; it shoot's a consitant 1" with anything I've run through it so far, with only slight changes of impact at 100yrds. I use it as my trail-bike gun, in a saddle scabord on the side of my sneaky little KE-100. I topped it with a BSA 4.5-15X Ill. Works great at night!!!

I have an older Marlin 882 (now called the 982 with some improvements?) and really like it. I've never shot it from the bench but it has always impressed me in the field, and I too have put a cheapie scope, a Bushnell, on it. If I was buying another I'd get the tube mag model - the box mag gets in the way when I'm walking with the rifle slung on my shoulder or carrying it with one hand.

I have a Marlin 882SSV and really like it. It is very accurate, functions well, and fits good too.

I don't care for the Marlin semi-auto's but their bolt guns are great.

I purchased a Marlin 25MN about 2 years ago at the local Walmart. It was on sale for $99.00 plus tax and came with a Tasco 3X9X32MM scope. At the time I bought it due to the price although I had no need in this caliber of rifle. The stock is wood and is checkered however I beleive it is hardwood and not walnut. I took it to the range after bore sighting it and was amazed at the accracy of this rifle. I was hitting a 2 inch group at 100 yards. My wife had never fired a gun and was able to do the same. It is my one and only Marlin rifle, I have always been a fan of Winchester and Barretta. But I can tell you it will not be my last one I buy. The quality of the rifle is better than I expected and even my friend who use much more expensive rifles love it. I have to admit it is not as fast a semi auto but if you are not in a hurry then by all means look hard at one of these. If you have the cash to burn look at the 882 with a heavy barrel is my only suggestion.

the 25 is an excellent 22 mag rifle, Marlin is , in my opinion, the best most accomplished of any of the big boys, as far as 22 mags goes. Their old 782 or 783, if you can find one, not only are they beauties, but they are generally considered a top five, if not , the number one, best most accurate 22 mag that was made. Some may say the old BrNO take down 22's were the best, and they have a point, but they were inconsistent as well. the 783 was not.

The Marlin 22 mag bolt gun was the first rifle I used many years ago for whistle pigs. I can't wait to get another one.

I have a 882, it took some work to get it to shoot well. I bought it used along with a Win. 1300 Defender for $200 so I can't complain. The price of .22 mag. ammo seems to high for what you get, you can shoot .223 for not much more.
I really like the 882 for varminting in sensitive areas, rockchucks at a 125yds are easy pickins
