Are You Sitting Down ?

You never know what lurks in them basements.

I remember hearing a story of a WW2 vet that passed away & the widow found a 60mm mortar complete with rounds in the basement....

Wonder also what they did take. Reminds me on Alies the Father brings Vahn to one of his storage areas. Many guns/ammo/explosives/money stored. Vahn says something like "that you have let me see this and know the location tells me you have more then one of these" To with her father smiles.
Always felt it would be nice to have a secure storage place loaded with all that kind of stuff (legally of course) But wonder why there is never any sign of dust?

Actually, I am standing up right now. Of course I'm at a work station in my office and I'm trying to look productive. ;)

Get more info, guys.

Initial reports locally had the ammo figures at 200,000 rounds, then dropped down to 20,000. Homeowner's wife left him recently, and he's tried suicide twice (thought it doesn't seem like he used firearms), and isn't expected to survive the latest attempt.

The woman who found the stuff was looking into buying the house, hence the "snooping". Seems she found a box of "stuff" that had powder and other "bomb" type stuff, though what that other stuff was, she didn't say. Something about "chemicals", too. Evacuated 14 homes surrounding the house in question. Lots of hoopla, not much substance. The local talking heads are still swooning over it though:rolleyes: .

Hope they never visit my house.

Can an attorney or LEO answer this question: what would happen if you refused to leave your home in this situation?

BTW, sounds like the guy was a reloader.

Arent grenades considered destructive devices?

I used to have a few blasting caps that my buddy gave me, never used them though.. now i wish I had! probably got thrown away when my parents renovated my room.

DAMN I wish I had 20,000 rounds of any caliber! I would go out and buy a gun to use them in :D .

This kind of crap scares the piss out of me.
If you want interesting, check out your state and local fire codes. My city fire codes for example, appear to prohibit the possession of any quantity of blackpowder. Odds are that the can of gas that everyone keeps in their garage for the lawnmower is also technically illegal. It really irritates me that the "rational persons" view of ownership of ammo, gunpowder and the like has changed so much in the past 50 years or so.

I read about that. They said the guy had some kind of fetish with Playdoh. They found cases of it. They were all wondering why the boxes of playdoh had explosive warning on them however they quickly dismissed it and return to rant on the 2000 rounds.

:D

Are there laws about how much ammo you can have on hand?

Actually, in MA there IS such a law!!! :what: :what:

They not only have a limit on how many rounds you are supposed to have....but how much POWDER as well! No word of a lie! :cuss: :banghead:

I just had to open the last case of .45 ACP in the house! That means I have less than 1000 rounds- time to reorder! I think I have around 600 .40 S&W, about 500 .357 Sig and approx 200 .32 ACP.

I still have most of a case of .223 M193 plus the unopened one, and about 400 M855- so somewhere over 2000 rounds. Then about 150 rounds of .308- all of it match grade though- shot one at a time!

Plus a brick or so of .22LR, a few boxes of 12g buckshot and some slugs.

How much I have is a great mystery, but I think I am running low on the .45, especially as I have my brand new baby Kimber Custom TLE coming home soon...
