This sounds like it has more to do with capital management (cerberus), than it actually does anything firearm related. In his case the company in question just happens to make guns.

Good news on the jobs though, we need every single one we can come up with

We were just talking about this on another forum. I am taking a wait and see approach. Here is the way I see it. Bushmaster made a name for itself when the only competitors were either a more expensive Colt or junk like OLY. This is a different market.

If he can produce a quality product on the level of BCM, DD, etc at a competitive price then he will stand a chance. If not then he will be relegated to the unemployment line. The market is just too flooded with companies making ARs that unless you make a good one you are not going to get any attention. Personally I hope he manages to pull it off.

This also has nothing to do with Cerberus. As far as I can tell he purchased the old equipment back from them and that is all.

Nothing bad with this. Hopefully they will produce a top quality and/or innovative product. Otherwise they'll go the way of the various lower tier makers... some of which make money anyway!

Article says they are employing around 1/2 of the laid off workers. Maybe Dyke is going to be focusing on a different market niche if he's only giving jobs to half of the previous workforce?

Maybe he's being realistic about demand, or maybe the other 1/2 of the workers took jobs at the Ilion, NY plant that was assuming production of Bushmaster-branded Cerberus rifles.

Bushmaster has produced a fine product over the years, the craftsmanship and staff made the rifle into a name brand that will last for years to come. With the staff now producing another brand name, I am sure they will prove to produce a fine product. I wish them the best with the new brand and hope they do well.

This could be a good thing.

What makes an AR good is no secret. The recipe is simple. Hopefully they can bring it.

Hopefully they'll start to produce more modern AR styles and not just basic KISS carbines.

I wouldn't mind seeing them tie in with MSAR, get some AUG copies going at less than $1700 with replacement/additional barrels actually available and NATO Stanag M16 magazine compatable lowers as standard,,,
Let Remington deal with the hunting ARs & stick with basic models that folks can build into whatever version they desire.
Would be nice to see mil-spec diameter collapser tubes become standard & I also like Bushmaster barrels. Good stuff.:)
