I don't know if this is the right section for this question. I'll try. I have a pre-warning nine mm conversion cylinder that came with a ruger .357 which I unfortunately no longer have, a Blackhawk. It is unused. Also worthless to me. Does anyone know what it might be worth so I won't get burned trying to sell it? Thank's for any input.

Vellocet:
That 9mm cylinder is valuable. Several years ago I paid around 60-70 dollars for a nice one to have fitted to my Blackhawk 357. I have also seen 45 ACP and 44 mag cylinders ( for 44-40 Vaqueros) selling for quite a bit over 100 dollars. The suggest to check Gun Broker is a good one. Just don't let someone lowball you on the price.

Thanks for the information, especially rcmodel. Gunbroker has none. I think that in consideration of the increase in general prices it should be 125 to 150 or so. If anyone can correct me I would appreciate it.

"You need to find the guy that bought your gun and give it back to him."

or send him the proceeds of the sale :)
("fitted" matters, by the way, in case you did not know, OP)

The .45acp cylinders sell for up to $150 because of the demand. I think $100 would be about right.
You could put it in the classifieds here.

Paid $50 for mine last year

I bought a 9mm cylinder for my Blackhawk last year off Gunbroker - and mine was the highest bid. I don't think the demand is as high as for .45 cylinders.

Thanks to you all for the answers, especially rccola and oldfool. I guess this mint part is worth about 125, and the tolerance for interchange for ruger parts is pretty close so it might just drop in. Thank you loadedround.

All depends on if it's an OM or a NM cylinder. There is a difference!

Oooh, missed it was a NM...that will bring it down to the $75-80 range. That's it's from a pre-warning model isn't important, it's OM and NM that matters.

I recently contacted Ruger (May 2, 2011) about having a 9mm cylinder fitted to a early 1980's BH .357. Although they told me they were not offering that service at this time, they did quote $95 as the price of the cylinder, plus labor and shipping.

thank you Meeteetse. that was the answer I was looking for, around 100.00, not 125.00 or more. I appreciate the response.
