Okay, saw this at the show too and had a half-hour conversation with the European inventer. Check out what Hogue has to say about it:

Personally, I was impressed. To me, this meant one thing: INSTANT RACE GUN! WOOHOO! Very easy to retract the slide. While it looks like it could be ambidexterous, the Inventor said that he didn't plan on marketing the conversion kit. He said he'd spent a good bit of engineering time getting everything symetrical so that he could, indeed, make it an easy switch to left hand eject. After he'd done that, he finally realized that there wasn't really a market for lefty eject. Oh well, here's what it looks like:

Fixed barrel, scope rail, match sights, match accuracy. I've seen people fork out twice that for a race gun that by nature has reliability problems. They have to tune the guns to their loads and the most accurate of them will still skip a beat often. A fixed barrel eliminates that. This is high-quality stuff here. I was really impressed. BTW, that's a suggested retail, not what you can expect to get it for.

Wish it wasn't so blocky so it would look right on the 1911 frame.

Looks like a redesigned Wolff(sp?) pistol upper. An IPSC champ named Doug Koenig used one in Bianchi cup years ago. It wasn't reliable so he dumped it and went back to a real 1911.

Looks like you have to remove the ejector to get it on your gun. Sorry all you glued on Springfield ejector people!! LOL!

Hmm, I'm guessing it is a roller-delayed blowback operation (like the CZ-52).

That means the barrel, most of the upper (which is no longer a 'slide'), and the scope mount all remain fixed in place.
It should be accurate, but I don't see it having any point outside of competition shooting.

No need to guess, there is a sectional drawing on the Sigforum thread.
No rollers, no Wolf machinery.
It has what appears to be the same type of tipping lever lockup as the Benelli B76.

Bear in mind that this is from the same company that advertised a magnetic speed holster for IDPA.

what ever happened to this upper? is it still available? did they successfully get it out on the market?

Put together a Hogue Avenger 45 ACP and am presently testing it.If anyone wants info on this conversion feel free to contact me.I have already tested it with a scope/sand bags/200gr/LSWC bullets-it is extremely accurate.Selling price is less than list price also_Only complaint I have is-the pistol is extremely accurate so why put a combat front sight on it?? I sent my dust cover back to Hogue Machine Works to install a a blade in place of combat type front sight.Current crop of H-A units have ejection port on right hand side-just like a 1911 slide.Cheers

$1600 for a 1911 upper is just to much money, you can buy a complete Les Baer premier 2 for around $1600 and have a complete custom target grade gun.
