Nobody specified best for what, so I just voted best for me.

Out of those choices, torn between Beretta 92 and CZ-75.

My number one choice is not on the list (S&W 5906).

CZ is kicking some.....

This should be a multi option poll.

The CZ-75 and the Sig 226 are probably the best generalist metal frame guns.

The BHP and Beretta 92 are both excellent military service pistols with a long and proud history.

The Ruger P89 is probably unrivaled among the lot for ability to digest a heavy diet of +P ammunition.

The others are all good guns, OK at most everything, but the 5 I've mentioned are all exceptional at something IMO, and they are all excellent for various reasons.

Of course, if you included every significant 9mm pistol in that poll, it would have a good hundred lines.

You've got to watch out for those Howdah pistols. Sometimes they show up in the most unexpected places and then disappear without a trace. I blame the tigers.

So many great ones on that list, except maybe the Hi Point.

Trying to pick the best from that list , is about like trying to pick between Jennifer Lopez, Jennifer Anniston, Jennifer Garner, or Jennifer Love Hewitt! Lots of similarities, all do the same things in the end, largely a matter of personal preferance!!!

All that BS aside, I choose the Browning Hi Power. I am a traditionalist and like single action, cocked and locked actions.

I wanted to pick the CZ75...but I haven't bought one yet so I've only sent a hundred or so rounds downrange through a friend's. He is the type who is picky over finish and dropping mags, so I didn't get to run it as hard as I wanted. So I went with the devil I do know intimately and have owned...glock gen4 17. Give me more time with the cz and I may convert.

I voted for the Hi-Power. Browning, FN, FEG clone, FM clone or Arcus clone. They are all great 9mms.

Besides; 'best' is a relative term even when one does know the application.

Here, let me help....

When this thread dies down, you will have a vote for every pistol made in the last 100 years chambered in 9mm. more than likely, the Glock will come out with the most votes.

So, Im going to vote for the Luger. What the heck, it's 9mm and some random gun from the last 150 years.

Or a Howdah pistol.

I was torn between the Sig 226, Browning HiPower and Glock 17 so I did a eenie meenie (Glock 17)

If the glock 17 wasnt gen 4, I wouldve voted for it but instead went with the USP9. Less headaches with H&K vs the gen 4 glocks.

I wouldn't trade my Walther P99 (or my Walther P99C) for anything else on the list, and there are some fine pistols represented in the poll. It's accurate, it's dependable, it eats everything; it's the real deal.

They're actually very good pistols. Ugly as can be, but the trigger is better than you'd expect, it hits what I point it at, and never had a hiccup that I saw. My uncle picked one up for very cheap.
