After all the news of the ownership change of Tyler Manufacturing and hearing about people who had begun receiving their old orders, I thought I would take a $30 gamble and order a T-Grip for my Model 66 no dash. I came really close to spending $100 on a 3R size on eBay a while back and I'm glad I didn't. It was approximately 4 weeks since I placed my order and I got the adapter in the mail today. Quality is very good and fit is right on the money. I've very happy that I took the chance on them and hope that my experience might convince others who are on the fence to go ahead and commit. Here are a couple photos of the no dash 66 with the T-Grip.

Tyler T grips

That is really good news.
I spent $75.00 on a 3T for my K frame a few months ago
off ebay because i needed them and had to have them now.
so yes,....good news

Sweet! I know the may not be the best for control but I always likes the old fashioned "toothpick" grips on snubbies. If I ever track down a 66 of my own I may just do the same thing.

I got the t-grip for my Colt Agent today too. I ordered it on July 7th. It fits well and really helps me grip the little Colt. I had seen some on fleabay for up to $90.

Olympus,

The T-grip looks great on your gun. I'm a big fan of T-grips and am glad to see them back in business....I've got a couple I need to order myself. I was just waiting on them to get caught up on back orders. Looks like they are.

I ordered a pair back in March or April. Like a lot of other people, I had given them up for a lost cause, so I was plesantly surprised when they turned up in my mail a few weeks ago. They look great.

No pictures of them, but I have one on a Model 65-5 and the other on a 25-5. I need to order a few more for both N and K frames.

That 66 looks great with them.

People who paid scalper prices gotta be feeling pretty stupid about now.

I'm one of those who overpaid for my T-grip, and I don't feel stupid in the least. I feel like a guy who wanted something and could afford to pay a premium to get it now. It's good to be me.

Ps.
Olympus, the T-grip looks great on your M-66.

How does it stay? Do you have to cut the stock?
Nope, it has two thin, flat pieces of metal that go between the grip and the frame and are held in place by tightening down the grip.

You can put them on and take them off and there's no evidence they were there.

Thats a great looking 66. Glad to hear that the new owner is getting it all worked out. I've also heard of others finally getting their T grip orders too. I was going through some of my storage boxes and found the original T grip box from Melvin Tyler. Its mounted on my Security Six.

I WANT original grips on my 66 no dash and I WANT t-grips on them.

Since I live in OKC I will see if I can just pick them up.

Used Uncle Mike's rubber grip in excellent condition for my round K-frame was $6. Far superior grasping surface to inexpensive wooden grips S&W originally put on that gun. T-grip makes original grip setup even uglier.
If you don't mind me saying so nice comfy black rubber grips would look lovely on that shiny thing up there even better when holstered in quality black leather on quality black belt.

I've got rubber grips too. But Goodyears are only good for shooting magnum loads in my book. I much prefer the classier look of wood grips, especially magnas with a T-Grip. Different strokes for different folks. But for me, rubber grips are just too plain and make the gun look cheap. Replacing wood with rubber was another way to cut costs. Woods grips give guns much more character, and T-Grips give them even more.

Just my opinion. Their has to be guys who like rubber grips to balance out all of us who prefer wood.

And I don't wear black holsters or black belts. It's brown for me. I just had a custom holster made for this gun in a beautiful brown ring lizard skin. I will stick with my wood grips and T-Grips and leave the Goodyears in the closet.

I need a handful of K and J frame (And a Dick Special 2nd gen 3 inch that needs them)

But before I order... Anybody else getting their orders?
Not?

Thanks

A guy over at the S&W forum just posted that he received his T-Grip exactly one week to the day that he mailed his payment to them. I think they're up and running for good now.

Naw. I don't mind you saying it. You're just wrong. ;) ;)

The "goodyears" might be better for shooting, but they got no soul. You might as well shoot an automatic.

Seriously you're probably right about the grips. However I like the retro look and feel of walnut grips with a T-grip adapter.

The same Smith & Wesson Combat Masterpiece. Only the grips were changed.

Now that I got the proper grips for it, I need to order a T-grip.

That black holster...maybe for a duty rig. But I too, prefer brown.

Still Waiting for Refund

Am not a "Happy Camper" since I'm still waiting for a refund on trigger shoe which was confirmed as rec'd @ Tyler's via USPS on 6/5/10.

No contact by telephone (800-654-8415) with new owner, Bryan Matthews @ Tyler Manufacturing has been possible due "no answer", "not available now" or an immediate & continuously busy signal.

Refund had been promised more than a few times thru August 2010 when I knew there was a family illness & held off until January 2011 with a letter to Bryan from which I've heard nothing yet.

Just in case he or Anna may read this, it was invoice #14606 & refund amount was to be $17.60 due to a 20% restocking charge.

Even tho' I will not use the shoe on a carry gun, I'd settle for another 1 if they cannot afford the cash!:banghead:

LOL... I would agree.

I put Goodyears on my HD M66 simply because the Target stocks made speedloader use very UN speedy.

I would also agree they're probably better for shooting. But still...

I am still waiting on the one I ordered in November. I think the brushed aluminum will look good on my Security Six if it ever shows up.
