Springfield Armory XDM-45 in 5.25"

My indoor range in Lubbock has one. Went in to rent it and ended up renting the 4.5 incher instead.

He didn't have any for sale yet though.

I'm wondering why they haven't made a compact .45 yet, but are instead making competition pistols.

Anyone with experience with either of these know what the trigger is like on them? I'd assume it would be different than the standard XDm if its designed for competition.

From what I understand they don't modify the triggers at all. If you want a "competition" trigger you have to have it done yourself at your expense. Which is stupid IMO.

Way too much money for a plastic fantastic.

There was one on gunbroker but it sold already.

What I don't understand is the big gaping hole on the top of the slide. They tried that crap on the ported first gen XDs and it went over like a fart in church. Lot of cracked slides...

Wonder how Glock gets away with it....

Glocks don't cost near as much as the XDm 5.25.

I'll take a G34 and a G35 with fiber optic front sights and trigger jobs for one XDM 5.25, wait a minute I already have. At $1300+ I will pass, for about the same money I can get an STI 2011, at least the STIs are available, and I would bet a way better trigger. Probably a real good shooting XD, but, big BUT, it's about 5 bills over priced.

Since when are they $1300? Maybe if you've got to be the first guy to get one, and pay stupid prices on auction websites. Retail I've seen is a little under $700 for an XD-m 5.25 9mm. What's a new Glock 34 go for, $600, maybe slightly under? Wow, that sure is a big difference, wonder how much putting equivalent sights on the Glock 34 would cost...

Glock 34, $640

I'm not seeing a big difference here.

My point was that I wouldn't pay over $550 max for ANY plasti-gun.

Reviews so far are very positive. You can always add a PRP trigger kit if the stock trigger doesn't suit you.

The aspect of this new XDm that is so attractive to me is that it's the first and only, that 'I' am aware of, polymer competition .45acp.

I really like the looks of it and if it functions as well as it should considering all the additional competition-based changes, I think it will enjoy some great success with sales and IDPA clubs everywhere will begin to see them almost as commonly as they see Glock 34's now.

Though, since factory .45 is so much more expensive than 9mm, you will only see the reloaders, or those with plenty of money for ammo, using them in competition.

There are a few floating around the internet, but I'll have to wait til I can actually get my hands on one. And if I likey, I may very well make one mine.

Not a compact, but the 4" XD "Service" model has been around a good while and is not a comp pistol. I've fired my son's a number of times. It has the typical striker trigger feel and shoots very well. Recoil/flip was not a problem. He's never had a malfunction of any kind, and competed with it in USPSA unmodified.

1SOW, I should have said a compact XDm. They made the 9 and the 40, but no 45.

I don't think there is much of a market for match grade compacts. I love my 4.5" btw...
