I just bought a rilfe with Carl Gustafs Stads Gevärsfaktori on the receiver. It also has 1908 on it. Looks like a monte carlo stock and has been trimmed down to a 16" barrel. Any thoughts on worth or even chamber?

Excellent rifle, but it sounds like a garage hack job. Mind, there are some fantastic professional sporter versions of the Swedes, but the aftermarket Monte Carlo and the 16" cut is a tell-tale signature of Bubba. Worth very little in that condition, but might still be fun as a shooter if the crown wasn't ruined.

If it was Bubba...he did a great job. Stock looks like it was made for it (wood) and the barrel has a beautiful crown.

Great rifle, I own a 1917 Swede in 6.5 x 55 made in the same factory. There not the most valuable things if not all original.... but they are GREAT shooters. You'll love it. Pictures?

mine is bedded and has some trigger work(original trigger parts), but other wise original,

yours should do well also, as long as bore is very good and the bolt and receiver numbers all match, and you have some quality ammo, these 6.5mm military rifles seem to work best with the heavier bullets,,,
