Got it!

Sent my application in on the 1st and my license arrived the other day. Now if I take off the weekend (unless they're working on Saturday and Sunday) and a day for mail each way, that's 6 working days and I'm under #1600.

Thanks for the prompt handling of my application and I hope the same follows for my fellow citizens. Hang in there!!!

Recent up to date changes to WI CCW Department of Justice FAQ listed.

As of now the 4 hour qual. has been suspended.
You still need one of thefollowing:
DD-214 military discharge if prior military.
The hunter safety issued by a state or approved trainer.
Proof of prior law enforcement training.
A license from another state.
Did I miss anything?

UPDATE 11/09/2011

On 11/7/11, The Joint Committee For The Review of Administrative Rules (JCRAR) suspended portions of the emergency rules affecting the training requirements for concealed carry licenses. Proof of training is still required to apply for a license. The changes include:

Elimination of any time requirement for the firearms safety and training course
Elimination of the word test from the definition of firearms safety and training course
Elimination of any time requirement for firearms instructor training
Elimination of the instructor’s signature from the certificate affirming they taught the course to the student
Elimination of any instructor contact information on the certificate
Elimination of the location where the training was provided from the certificate
Any application submitted prior to these changes will be processed in accordance with these revisions. If your application has been returned as a result of any of the above training issues, or because you did not have an out-of-state affirmation form; please resubmit the application with all necessary forms and the fee to the CIB Firearms Unit, PO Box 2718, Madison, WI 53701-2718, for reprocessing.

A friend of mine mailed his in on th 1st and received his ccw on the 6th. Mailed mine the morning of the 1st also, from the same post office, no permit yet and the check hasn't cleared either so it seems to be luck if the draw on processing times.

Finally got mine in today, license number in the 2800's. As others have said, bravo to Wisconsin government bureaucracy for a change, good snappy work!

I walked threw Target as well as Costco today, does that count?

Any big box store will count.

THR had a fad some time back where people, upon receiving their CCW permits, would take a ceremonious walk through a local Walmart. While the reasons behind this have long since faded into distant history, my assumption was that if any of us are going to have to use our concealed weapons, it'd probably be at a Walmart.:p

After work tomorrow I'm gonna take my snubbie on a well deserved trip to the new Gun World Gander Mountain store that just opened in Germantown, which will probably be the largest overpriced gun store in America!:barf:

I actually think it's how long the check takes to clear. I got my mine today. Check cleared 11/10, license was issued 11/10. License number is in the 3600 range. Nasser posting above got his today as well, and his license number is in the 2800 range. If your bank is slow clearing the check, that could be the delay.

I stopped at Gun World. Your right about the prices. I had to do a double take when I saw a Glock 27 for $699! My big reason for going is I wanted to try on a 5.11 holster shirt.

My number is under 300, and my check didn't clear until 4 days after I received my license. Not sure what that means.......

Not sure if I should be POed or happy about the new rule change. They took all the restrictions off the training docs the day after I paid to take another course. At least now I have my qualifications for a Min permit. Either way both apps went in today.

damn, all Wisconsin needs now is a hockey team and they'll be all set!
