Painting a front sight with nailpolish

Only paint the front sight, I think...

RobinKevin, if I could put little "dots" of paint on my rear sights, I would have. But anyone who checked out my video can see that my paint control isn't that precise!
My gut is that with the fixed iron sights on my revolver, only the paint on the front ramp will really help. And I think that's conventional wisdom on this topic.

This picture doesn't adequately show how the newly painted front ramp fills the space within the rear sight "notch" (must be a camera thing), but I think you can still get what I'm trying to say:

For what it's worth, I've been doing this to my firearms for a very long time. I've found that using a round toothpick instead of any kind of a brush works best, just kind of roll it into the serrations of the front sight, then "dot" the rear sight.

Wasn't suggesting that you needed to, but rather asking if it helps. I was taught to paint the front sight. However I see a lot of people paint front sight one color and the back sights a different color... I was wondering if that really helps any. Personally I have a hard time believing that it would help much.

Paint pen from Walmart. I bought the box with 5 colors and it's kinda like a labeler... I have used it on everything from my gunsafe and key to the light switches.

I started with nail polish as well. Then, I found out that Testor's had small containers of fluorescent model paint so I bought the fluorescent orange one.

Testors model aircraft paint works great. It holds up well in my holster, go to the hobby store and grab some
