Bought another S&W 3913 today

The 3913 is mostly about "girly hands" and surprisingly expensive to buy on second-hand market. Look for 469 it's better gun that can be bought for less $. Most assure three digits are inferior to four on S&W metal framed autos big mistake IMO.

I used to have that problem, then found a pre-rail 3913TSW and perfection was acheived.

The 469 is inferior when it comes to ergonomics. The four digit series took away the 2x4 feel which was a good thing.

Got to agree with you on that, having had a Model 469 not long after they came out. Never could get comfortable with that awkwardly shaped grip. Later on I bought a Model 6906 and that gun was a huge improvement in terms of grip design and ergonomics.

Congrats on the new 3919. I have one on layaway that should be home in time for Christmas.

I'm a revolver guy but liking bottom feeders more every day. My 3913 has won me over big time. Don't get me wrong, I'm still a revolver guy. I liked semi-auto's I've had in the past, Loved a Buckmark, love my SR9 and LC9 but the S&W 3913 is.....well...just flat out sweet. I want to get another one.

I've located a brand new, never fired CS9. Am seriously considering buying it as a conceal carry gun replacing my XDm Compact. I have found I simply prefer a carry gun with a hammer instead of a striker. I'm comparing the CS9 to a CZ75 RAMI weighing the advantages and disadvantages of both. The Sig 239 is still in the running but is heavier. It's tough finding compact semis with a hammer and DA/SA trigger. If only Kahr made the MK9 with a hammer it would be about perfect for what I am looking for.

I'm not sure what you mean by "girly hands" but I weigh about 300 and have small meat hooks for hands. My 3913 ($329 used in excellent condition) fits my hands well and has been flawless for about 500 rounds.

Owning a 659, 669 and 3913, I have the right-sized S&W 9 mm for any occasion!

I'm tired and drawing a blank on this. Is the 3913 alloy framed or steel framed?

3913 is alloy framed.

My first semi autopistol was it's grandfather, the 39-2. Still have one, but not the same one since I foolishly traded the original away... single-stack, alloy framed 4" barrel with a curved backstrap.

Just looking at the pictures and said to my wife, "I want one of these". She said don't you have enough guns. What would you think if I started buy sewing machine after sewing machine? I didn't have an answer.

Actually I did have an answer but I knew she wouldn't understand.

I assume this to mean that it fits women's hands as well as men's.

Is it true that the 3 digit units were designed to be less expensive for the "mass" market hence a slightly inferior (relative) item?

I'm still looking for a Shorty .40.

It depends. If it is a "second generation" like the 469 referenced, no; it was top of the line at the time. If a "Value Line" like the 908, 915, 410, etc., yes, some cost cutting measures were taken, but not where absolutely critical.

First came the 2-digit models, then the three digit, then the four digit. Different generations. i.e. 39 became 439, then 3904. The third gen numbering system gave much more flexibility in describing exactly what the gun was. first two digits=model series, third digit was safety/trigger system, fourth digit is frame material (3=alloy, 4=steel, 6=stainless)
