Best Single Stack 9's

I have a K9. It's not going anywhere, that's for sure. Great gun.

Only fired a P7 at the range, but man was that thing sweet. Weird though, a little awkward for carry.

Sticking with single stacks the Sig 239/225 stand out as does any of S&W 39XX/908 models, Ruger LC9 also comes to mind. Also if you don/t mind a SA only the 1911 compacts in 9mm Kimber Ultra Carry, and Springfield EMP etc. would also be good choices. Now if you step up to double stack you can't beat the Ruger SR9c.

..or if you are totally insane or have tons of cash to spare..

S&W makes the 952 which is pretty good. Then there's the P210. You could have a 1911 made in 9mm, which could compete with these two. If you want a cheap 9, a S&W 3906 is nice and slim, albeit sloppy and inaccurate. Sig P225's are nice too, but very accurate. I don't recommend P7's because they are way too overpriced for what you get. Finally, look at the Glock 19. It is as slim as any of the single stacks and has twice the capacity. And it only costs $500!

Aegis

I love the 1911 platform for 9mm I have Kimber Aegis and Colt commander in 9mm and they bothare spot on.

We are all entitled to our own opinion, but I have never paid more than $650 for any of the four P7 PSPs I own, and I don't think that is too much to spend for what is the finest concealed carry 9mm pistol ever made. I also refrain from making negative statements about pistols I haven't owned/and/or/shot, so I can tell you from experience that there is a reason the Glock 19 sells for $500 new and P7 costs more than that Used. Despite what you often hear, sometimes you do get what you pay for.

Having owned a P7 I can tell you a G19 or a P225 are superior firearms in every respect.

Superior in every respect? What does that mean? Certainly not accuracy, reliability, felt recoil, nor ability to conceal. The G19 is a double stack, so it holds more, but what else do you mean?

Certainly accuracy, reliability, recoil, and the ability to conceal.

Walther P38. Shooting it was some of the "best" fun I ever had at a range. Wish they still made them. Not exactly an ideal CCW, but sometimes fun is reason enough.

Another vote for the S+W 39-- series for me. As far as I am concerned they are a perfect mix of size and weight to be great range guns and also carry guns. Small and light enough for carry and big and heavy enough for range fun at the same time. I have built up a collection of a few and am now considering trading off or selling a 3953 for a Sig P225 or 239 just for a little variety. I always liked the Beretta "type-M" as well. (Should have jumped on that deal back in the day when they could be had at relatively bargain prices...now they're "rare" and pricey!)

While I've handled many other guns I keep coming back to the various single-stack nines as a great fit for me. After going through other calibers I've come to have a real appreciation for the 9mm (but my 1911 isn't going anywhere)and the slimmer grips just feel and fit better. I personally do not feel the "need" for high-capacity for the range or for home defense or civilian street carry (again, for me). If I ever do there's a Hi-Power around here somewhere;).

"Another vote for the S+W 39-- series for me. Well, add another "+1". I have a 3914. Almost perfection. It is better than a Walther P5C, Kahr, and feels more natural than a P7. One is going to have to work to find a better performing gun.

Thanks. I think that will be my next purchase if I can find one.

Ive only had mine for two weeks but in that time I've fed roughly 400 rounds through her. I highly recommend this fun for a concealed carry firearm. It accepts Glock/Sig night sights and is less than an inch thick. It carries 8+1 rounds of 9mm +P and is every bit as accurate as my Glock 19.
If I had to compare it to something I would have to say it feels like a Kahr P9 with a Steyr M/S series short-reset trigger.
