Remember EAA Thor Handgun?

Does anyone here remember the "Thor" handgun? A single shot pistol in rifle calibers built on the 1911 frame. I remember seeing them advertised and I always wanted one but I've never seen one in person. This had to be in the late 70's or early 80's.

I didn't remember the name, but I do vaguely remember the gun. I don't even recall what type of action it was (bolt?), but they advertised heavily in that period.

I remember the pics in the ads.......it had a typical break open action.

Pretty wild idea, I guess I don't see the benefit of using the 1911 frame other than perhaps the familiarity most gunsmiths have with the trigger workings of that weapon.

It's really hard to find a better trigger than what is on a decent 1911!

You might as well reuse gun parts you already make instead of spending lots of money tooling up for new ones.
