A year or two ago I saw these used batches of P6s and P225s surface. I didn't jump on them, even at a great price. Now I wish I would have.

So, are there any stores that carry these turn-ins?

You will find them here and there but the price has moved up because the source is dried up.

It is hard to find one under $400 these days.

I see them randomly pop up, but the price has gone up a lot. Right now there is a batch of 226 and 228 on Gunbroker for under $400 on average, and four or five P6 for under $500...

My first semi auto was a Walther PPKs. BUT, for the same $325.00 I could have went home with a HK P7M13. Darn 007 movies. Yes it bites when you miss the good deals. I recently picked up a Sig SP2022 since i missed my old 228 and after doing some research. And the good reviews were right according to my recent trip to the range. I do think the trigger feels better than my old 228 and the acuracy was right on not needing to be adjusted. Mine with factory night sights found at auction for $346.00 and after shipping and transfer fee, $410.00. These are normally $399.00 w/o night sights at Academy sports.

If you are near Eastern Iowa, I know where you can get a very nice West German P225 for $450. The only issue is that it was duracoated. However, mechanically speaking, it's in excellent shape. PM me if you want the info.

Back when the surplus P6's first showed up the price ranged from $250 to $300. I paid $275 for mine. It was a heck of a deal for the price. At the current $400+ prices though I'd probably look at the surplus S&W 5906's first. Those are still $300 and under.

I haven't seen any 226 for under 400 on gunbroker. I'd scoop one up for sure if it was in nice shape.

Look for Cole Distributors, screen name gcolecoledist. I just bought a Hi-Power from them. It's still in the mail, but their customer service has been good throughout the purchase. They have several P226s for $368-388.

Aim is now sold out. I was reluctacnt to buy one for the $340 + shipping and ffl price. That would put it around $400.

I wonder if they need to new springs, barrel, etc. being that they are older used police guns.

All the P6s are police trade ins... Most people who have bought the P6s have not had to replace anything other than springs which IMHO are like tires on a car. They wear and over time should be replaced. Some choose to replace barrels because the earlier P6s did not feed JHPs. Those with the improved feed ramp are more sought after IMHO. There is a date where the ramp changed but I cannot remember it off the top of my head.

If you are looking for a real P225 it will cost you more than $400. IMHO more like $500+ You do not see many P225 CPOs anymore.

I've not had to replace any springs on my P6, and certainly not the barrel - you have to remember that police guns are typically fired very, very little. Your average range toy likely has more rounds through it.

I have to say though that I doubt you'll ever seen them any cheaper than $340. Even that shocked me to see them that low again. If you're truly interested I wouldn't let such an opportunity pass by if it comes your way again ;).

I payed 300 for my p6. in 2007, it came with a holster and 2nd mag and a factory blue box.
I put a main spring from wolf in it. I went with the 12 pound. Works great and the DA and the SA trigger is much improved. I like the single stacked 9mm over the double stacked, they just fits my hand better.

Look at your local pawn shop

LEAD,

I bought a well used P6 about 5 years ago for $375.00 at a gun show. It shot well, but was one of the early guns that would not feed ANY hollowpoints.
On the positive side, IT SHOT VERY WELL with ball and COR BON Powervball which became the carry load.

My wife liked it so much, she uses it for a car gun and house gun.

I went into a pawn shop just before XMAS looking for video games as a gift. Instead I found a "like new" SIG 225 for $500.00. That included 3 SIG made magazines making the price more like $450.00.

I bought it and it shoots as well or even better than the first one.

Sometimes you just get lucky. So just check the local gun and pawn shops.

good luck

and HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all

Jim
