Ok, I have a decent Stoeger SxS. It's the Uplander Supreme (single trigger, screw-in chokes, actually quite nice wood for the price). I'd like to upgrade a bit but I'm not sure what the best route would be. Sure, a nice condition used classic is one option, but finding that mint Parker VHE for $800 at a gun show is not really all that likely. Perhaps a $500 Winchester 24  yeah, thought so...

Is there a quality SxS being made for $1000? Used? Or just deal with the Stoeger until such time as I've saved $2000 or $3000?

Upgrade by looking down

If I were you, wlewis,I'd do a little research and start hitting pawn shops and old country stores.I saw a Fox-Sterlingworth 16ga sxs in a store in the wilds of WNC in ex cond for $700.I know a pawn shop here that has a LeFever 16ga sxs for same price ,and also a Jamart 12 ga sxs(ex gun-I have one).Make it a fun search.Every time you go to a different place on vacation or business look for pawn shops, old country stores, small gun shops, etc.Lots of times they don't know what they have, and you can pick up an excellent shotgun for littlle $. Examples 16ga N.I.D.$375.Book $1200--Ithaca Flues 20ga sxs $300.Book $1100------- Jamart&Cie 12ga sxs $360.Book $900-$2000
