FrogLube

I did not see where Lubriplate SFL-1 or 130A was food grade. 130A is petroleum based. And I don't believe they are completely safe like FrogLube is.

SFL-1 is indeed food grade and safe. See http://www.lubriplate.com/pdf/ads-catalogs/FullLineDataBook.pdf page 18. The different numbers (SFL-00 - SFL-2) refer to the relative densities (and other parameters as noted). I bought a 14 oz container of SFL-1 a couple of years ago to use on my Garands, M14 & Carbines (and a ton of other stuff) based on an article I read online (on Grant Cunningham's website: http://grantcunningham.com/lubricants101.html ). After a lot of research, I concluded it was better than the old GI Lubriplate (don't remember its designation other than that) and many of the "super lubes" now on the market. Based on my use over the past couple of years, I think I am right. Do like I did - do the research & suit yourself.

SFL Series:
Multi-Purpose Synthetic, Aluminum Complex, Food Machinery Grade Greases.
This series provides an exceptionally wide operating temperature range, high shear stability, excellent water resistance, and load carrying properties. For use in freezers and other cold temperature applications or in areas subject to both cold and elevated temperatures. Available in 4 densities.

I think FrogLube is a bit more advanced than that...

Is advanced good? Or is it simply overcomplicating a simple problem? I think people spend way to much time thinking about lubrication, and trying to pick one magic compound over another.

Well, considering that I clean my guns on my kitchen table, and I wear one against my skin, it's nice to know its not poisonous.

That said, im not sure how useful "made from food grade ingredients" and "plant-based" is. Appleseeds are loaded with arsenic, and tomatoes and potatoes are in the nightshade family, with many of the same nasty compounds as nightshade, for instance.

You can use FrogLube as lip balm lol.

Well I have completed a few more tests and I have came to the conclusion that FrogLube is worth being a distributor for. The Lubrication and Protection aspects of FrogLube are well worth it. The cleaning of carbon fouling FrogLube is the way to go with gas injectors like a Remington 1100 or AR style rifles. I will still utilize the cleaning solvents but will add a strong leader to the collection.

I want to thank everyone who participated in this thread.

As far as SFL-1, I may look into it. But I never had anyone talk to me about Lubriplate.

I've got over 50 guns (shotguns, rifles, handguns, carbines) and I'm very particular aout the cleaning and care of my collection. And I use Frog Lube on all of them. I was skeptical at first but after several coatings, the guns have become virtually rust proof. And it's great for cleaning and lube. In my opinion, it works better than any other CLP I've ever used. I'm sold on it and will be until a better CLP comes along.

I don't think a better one will come RunningSaluki lol. We liked it so much we became a distributor for the product! I have FrogLubed over a couple hundred guns. I use it on every personal gun and all customer guns we clean. I use FrogLube now in an Ultrasonic Cleaner that heats up. Dip the parts in there for 10 minutes, done! Glad to see another one converted! Can't beat the ECO Friendly aspects of FrogLube either!

I just started using Froglube after seeing it at a Gunshow, I use it on my machines (mill and lathe etc..) to protect against moisture as well as my guns.

I use the paste, what I like best about it is that the residue left on your hands is minimal. (easy to wipe off)

I just wish it was a little cheaper, if it is so natural why so much $$

Hi Dafish2011.

Since we started selling the product, the 4 oz paste tubs have been rock hot. It isn't a bad price point to try something new for $9.99. I use it everyday so I bought a gallon tub. It sounds like you may want to step up to at least 1 gallon or 5 gallon containers. Shoot me an email or call me 636-344-0055.

Absolutely, Eezox will clean the hell out of anything. It goes on wet then dries to protect against rust. Very good dry lubricant. All in all a great product.

Well it looks a little funny to me, that someone comes on here posting asking about such and such product, and then an extremely short time later (or no time at all, as I didn't check back when the thread was originally posted) the original poster just happens to sell that product... looks to me more like a "hey is this stuff great or what? Guess what else? I sell it, so buy it from me!" Not saying there's anything wrong with that, but he does state in the first post that he doesn't sell it and isn't trying to advertise for the product, even though the whole thread reads like a late night infomercial script.

I like the smell of it, but only in small doses. It seems to give me a queasy stomach if I smell too much of it, but that's probably just personal preference. I like my guns to smell like guns, not chewing gum. It's a decent lube, but there are better out there (eezox and hoppes are my two regulars with a bit of rem oil here and there). I didn't give it a chance to find out how well it protects my guns as I only used it for one shooting session and then washed it off and put eezox back on (1911 and AR15 w/ SSAR15 stock).

And hoppes is cheaper than the froglube too.

Scorpio, one of many reasons why I decided to use FrogLube is the comfort in knowing it is non toxic. I tested FrogLube for about a month, and found it does what the manufacture says. I did 8 tests in total in a month. I decided to be a distributor after the third test. Now that I sell the product, because I believe in it so much, my customers says it has a spearmint or even a bengay aroma.

I always thought Hoppe's #9 should have came in a perfume bottle lol but I never used this eezox. I still use Hoppe's #9, Benchrest and Rem Oil for those like Rail Driver who don't want to try FrogLube. But I use FrogLube 99% of the time to clean, lubricate and protect every gun in the shop/service.

As to Rail Driver, anytime anyone talks about a product there is always someone like you who needs to be a skeptic. Late night infomercial is a brilliant one. Its ok if you didn't like it, for whatever your reasons are. That is why there are tons of options.

I saw FrogLube at a gun show I was at recently. Regional distributor for the stuff was talking about how the Navy Seals use it and nothing else. Friend of mine bought some but I was skeptical until I did some research on the internet about it.

I have always used ballistol and it has always worked well for me but the smell was making me sick in my basement where I clean my guns and it is hard to open windows during the winter time. After my friend tried it on his stuff and after the reviews and videos I've seen, I've decided to order some to try it out.

Ballistol leaves a molecular coating that gets better each time you use it just as FrogLube claims. If it does as good a job at cleaning and protecting and it doesn't come with the chemical smell then I'll be extremely happy. Guess we will find out :)

Hi Cloudwraith,

A lot of people feel the same as you about being a skeptic till you try it. I am glad to see you are giving it a try. Let us know how you feel. Since I sell it people feel I am just advertising it, so write up a review about it for others to see.

Here is an update on my use. I use an Ultrasonic Cleaner that has a built in heater. I have been using FL Liquid. Going on 4 months with over 300 guns cleaned with it. Black as night but still working as day one when it was still green. I just add more FL when it gets a little low to keep the level up to properly work the Ultrasonic Cleaner.

Do you use it straight up or diluted in water? I have a sonic cleaner as well but 4oz isn't going to fill it and it will be expensive to do that full strength.

I never dilute!

Hello,

I would say first get the 4 oz and see how you like it. If you end up enjoying it as much as I do then you might see the value of getting a larger quantity.

I did a gallon liquid and a gallon paste. I have two ultrasonic cleaners, one with the paste the other liquid. I do not dilute nor mix the two types of FrogLube. To fill the two ultrasonic, I used less than half a gallon of each. I had mentioned cleaning over 300 firearms with the FL Liquid, I still have half the gallon available. I have cleaned over 100 guns with the FL Paste, still hardens up like day one.

I am going on over 6 months. EGC professionally clean guns, that is what we are known for.

So yes you might have that upfront cost, but it may last you a few years if not longer. Out of the Ultrasonic Cleaner right into a metal container were I use a hair blower to wick away the excess. Then I take the drippings back into the Ultrasonic Cleaner.

You are more than welcome to email me at [email protected]
