I have been become enamoured with the model 19 and 66 2.5 inch S&W revolvers recently. .357 Magnum in a K Frame.

I recently found a NIB 19-4, so nice I'm going to look at it for awhile before subjecting it to the range.

The 19 and photos of the 66 convinced me I needed a stainless for carry. My plan was to find one that was suitably used so I wouldn't be tempted to put it away. Pretty much worked out as planned.

Went to a gun show in Knoxville, TN this weekend and waited for the last day and the last two hours thinking whatever was left might be subject to better prices.

I was surprised to find four 66s in 2.5 inch, one too nice and the (box didn't match) a bit pricey. One that was mechanically deficient although in good cosmetic shape; one that was beat to death and too expensive for the condition, and this one. Never fired (supposedly) very light turn line, locks up tight, box (not a SN match) and tools. I would describe it as 99.5%. 66-2 S&W K Frame in .357, and it is not going in the safe. There, now I have the 19 and 66 out of my system I'm moving on. Think I am going to start with a TT Grip adder and maybe some Jerry Miculek's later.

Beautiful snub 66! Congrats! :)

Sad there won't be anymore as nice as that. :(

They are still out there. Just a bit pricey, but what is pricey? Not any more than some of the new S&Ws.

There was a perfect one for sale by the same private owner I got this one from. He said he had the matching box at home. It supposedly had about 50 rounds through it. It also had some really nice wood S&W combat grips. All for a mere $700. :scrutiny:

AND your barrel is on strait! ;) That alone is worth the price of admission!

I said it on another forum, and I will say it here...

I...Love...you...man!

Heck with "Save the Whales"...I am starting a campaign to "Save the 66 snubs"

I really have got to post some pics of my 66 :(

If I had an extra $700 in mad money yesterday I could have saved another one. It was a beauty too. Should have seen the S&W wood combat grips!!

You've got some good taste. Congrats on the purchase. You got yourself a nice one there!

Here is the pair of no-dash 66s that I have. I'm a bit of a collector myself.

Those aren't 19s, they are both 66s. The Tyler grip is great. It really fits well and feels good in the hand.

I also just picked up a used 66-1 to go with my model 19. Great minds must think alike! I think I will keep the 19 nice and carry the 66.

Same here. I might bring the 19 out for special occassions.

I am looking at Crimson Trace Grips for the 66. Wish they woud bring back that $50 rebate.

Not very classic looking but I have lasers on 4 other irons and really like what they do for my performance.

Adams,

And that ain't all of 'em! You don't see Centennials or N frames. Nor my older blued Smiths. And the few Colts (no, I don't have a SSA... always wanted one made in the 1800s but they cost way to much.)

I'm a Glock guy when it comes to packing, but you see to me 'automatics' are machines.

Revolvers have PERSONALITY.

That is very nice gun. Personally I hate old unfired S&W revolvers in original Boxes. Looked over lovely 4" Model 58. Now I do not know .41 Magnum but I like "Modelo 13 Anabolica Steroida":) problem was it came in original box, papers and no cylinder ring so I passed on it.:( I hate blue cardboard gun boxes!:barf:

PabloJ, you are a pretty finicky guy. Yeah, I know that is a big problem. I'll have to keep that one in mind I'm sure that will influence my next buying consideration...

I bought this disgusting speciman a couple months ago. A NIB 19-4, including gasp the original box, papers and kit.

I have 10K I am looking to divest myself of for about 17 of those despicably hideous new in the box K Frames. since you don't have any, don't send me your email. ;)
I am also wanting to lower my standards and purchase one perfect Model 29 4 inch and if you have 5 or so 3 inch L Frame 686 CS-1 I will gladly get that dead weight out of your life too.

Mr. Smith-

You are right on. I have sufficient' defensive hi capacity, carry tupperware, it's revolvers, those old stinking NIB, (stainless or blue) 30+ year old gems I'm chasing now. Heck, I might even lower my standards and buy a 99% now and then.
How long has it taken you to run such a collection down?? That's extremely impressive. Did you find those all in your State and or geographical region?
