"American Guns" TV show.....

Did anyone notice all the problems they were having with their firearms during the competition? The shooting was poor and the guns seemed to fail a lot for ten rounds or so.

I'm thinking user error. Given that some of them would have been better off throwing the pistol at the targets, I'm guessing there is limp-wristing happening.

Well, it's easier to watch than Moonshiners on Discovery. It's a little too dramatic though, and it seems like they're trying a little too hard to have their underage daughter be the sex appeal.

I admit ive trolled the facebook pages of the daughter, mom and dad.

its funny to watch him try and defend himself when the REAL father has posted several times telling his kids that he's happy to see them on TV but Rich still swears by that they are his children.

I work in the movie industry and have done "Reality TV" and its as fake as can be. I troll them hard and get a kick out of how pissed off they get. They are all idiots.

Rich IS the real father.
The kids grew up several states away, with their real mother (the first wife) and her husband (their step-father).
The step-father considers them his kids because he raised 'em with their mother.

Anybody know if this was renewed for a second season? And if so, when will it start airing?

Not sure but I hope so--For entertainment purposes only, I kind of like it. Conversely, for serious gun shows I turn to the Outdoor Channel, Military or sometimes History/Discovery channels.

I am not a gunsmith, but...???

The most recent episode I saw of American Guns (the Nock(sp?) gun) had several things in it that I raised an eyebrow to. The guy cutting the barrel down by hand with a hacksaw? Drilling flash holes with a hand held cordless drill? The multi loader? And more. I hope they are a little more believable when Rattlesnake makes his appearance. This episode was fraught with so many dubious things that I could not stay silent about it. What else did y'all notice? Oooh, oooh (raising hand)- test firing the black powder barrels in the basement. As stated, I am not a gunsmith, but seems to me that there were better ways to do what they did. Am I right?:scrutiny:

You ain't wrong.
I watched about the first 5 minutes and couldn't take it any longer.

I would not let them clean my 10/22 Ruger if that is all the gunsmiths know about gunsmithing.

I got 12 year old kids on the block that know how to use my drill press to drill perfect holes in a skateboard by now.

The whole show is like dumb, dumber, and a con-man.

The guy quoted a customer something like $12,000 for one AR-15 and one S&W Governor to shoot alligators with!

There ought to be a law against that kind of rip-off.

I have seen a few of this season's episodes, but strictly for entertainment purposes....MAYBE a bit of education. Had never heard of a "Nock Gun" before yesterday.

One of the young guys does nice engraving.

Hell, rc it wasn't even that good. It was a "customised" Mossberg in .223. When the "real" gator hunters are doing it with Marlin Mod60 .22's for less than $200.00 a pop.

That guy is the biggest snake oil salesman I ever saw getting by on excesses of wealth and ignorance. He makes Will of Red Jacket look good by comparison.

P.S. he makes me queasy the way he's pimping his hot daughter for the show.

Oh- and rereading some of the earlier posts- regarding the 2 old Colts. Did you see the news story that the guy who brought them in had stolen them (or at least 1) from a museum??!! He had a pair on him to take a stolen gun onto national TV! But criminals are not always the most intelligent citizens.

At least with Sons of Guns you get to hear Tab Benoit's "Shelter Me" instead of that Godawful "American Guns" trainwreck.
AMEN !!!!!!
The 'American Guns' theme (I won't dignify it by calling it a song) reminds me of that old schtick; 'Chopping Broccoli'.
Sounds like they gave a $5 bill to one of the basement gnome smiths to make it up on the spot.
No wait....perhaps Rich milled the theme from a solid block of steel !

I have tried to watch and like that show, and just can't get past the obvious rip off's. I know it's a TV show, but it sets a bad example to people who aren't necessarily "in the know". I used to enjoy his cute daughter, until someone pointed it out to me that she has a giraffe-like neck....now I can only picture her foraging for leaves at the top of trees...while her Dad trades some schmuck a custom engraved Hi-Point 9mm for $7,000 and his '66 Shelby Mustang...

This has got to be the funniest thing of all time. I thought her neck looked large but never could get that far up looking at her!
I enjoy the show. Better than all the other crap on TV besides top shot and the outdoor line up. I think people get to caught up on facts and what not. Its just a show. I did like how he raped the "alligator hunter" and didn't even take him to dinner! $8,000 for a mossberg MVP with a cut barrel and smoothed trigger and action and scope. Ohhh don't let me forget the $600 revolver with that! Probably at most a $2,000 purchase. Idiot

I don't think this is correct. Next time you watch the show, take note how the daughter is the spittin' image of the mother.

Skeeziks is correct, the kids are her's not Rich's. They did grow up several states away but with there real dad. They only came to Colorado and started working in the shop becouse of the TV show.

I laughed out loud when they agreed on $8k for a $500 rifle with a short barrel, trigger job, and scout scope mount and a $800 revolver with engraving on the cylinder and a trigger job. I dont know what's worse, that they would charge that much or that the customer was dumb enough to think that was a deal.

and the stupid manufactured conflict between the gunsmiths is enough to make me stop watching.

17 pages, 11 deleted post and this thing has wandered more than an old cow without a fence. Folks it is TV, not reality. I would call it entertainemnt but it is not even that. When we are down to talking about which theme music is better or how hot, or not, the daughters are we are done.
