Might be a stupid question, but where do you buy your knives? I've seen them at Gander Mountain, Dick's Sporting Goods, and Wal-mart, but their selections were kind of limited. Specifically I was interested in an Opinel.

You'll probably need to go online to find many makes and models. Amazon usually has the best price for what I've looked for, with free shipping most of the time as well.

I buy from Amazon or Cutlery Shoppe, most of the time. If I want the blade etched, Rocky National.

I just bought from Cutlery and Rocky a few minutes ago, actually.

Army surplus store? There is a local store that has guns/knives/survival stuff I like to go to.

I buy mostly online. New: The Knife Connection, Knife Center. I buy used rom AR15.com> Equipement Exchange>Blades. I have never used Bladeforums knife exchange, but i see a lot of good knives on its knife exchange. I have bought a couple from Bass Pro Shop.

My local Walmart has a few nice Gerbers, Kershaws, CRKTs and Bucks, but i just don't see any i that really jump out at me. All good knives, but they are just not what i need.

For factory blades, I buy from Smoky Mt Knife Works, New Graham, Knifeworks and occasionally from AG Russell. One I intend to look at in the future is Bladematrix.

Buying GEC knives of late has resulted in a broadening my shopping to some lesser known places that I have not listed here.

New Graham does have a wide selection, Cutlery Shoppe just generally has better prices. GP isn't bad, and is known for allowing customers to preorder knives that aren't on the market yet. My Translucent Manix 2 was purchased from them, and I received it before I would have from anyone else.

I favor simple, basic, carbon steel knives. So it's Amazon for Opinel and the Svord peasant knife. Ragweed Forge for the Classic Mora knives. For my woodcarving knives I like Pinewood Forge.

Forgive me for this, but Cutco produces some seriously good knives. We've been using them in the family kitchen for years. We've never needed to sharped, replace, or have them fixed. They also own and make the KA-BAR.

I am pretty loyal to knife center, only because I have never had a problem. I have ordered from Cutlery Shoppe and Smoky Mountain with success too. For Case, I found a Case specific place this one time that I really liked, but darned if I can remember what it was called or find it again!

I buy online from Amazon, BladeHQ, New Graham, KSF, The Knife Connection, and Crystal Falls Trading Company.

Well, I have come to really like Cold Steel knives. I've order alot from them directly but have found lots better deals on the web. Sometimes eBay has good deals, I search until I find what I'm after, for the price I can afford and do the deal. All the companies mentioned here are good. Of course, the older stuff can still be found in pawn shops, gun shops and your buddies, too.

Smokey Mt. knifeworks, but I'm biased since I live close to the store. It's nice to be able to compare shop before you buy.
