slide jammed with round in chamber

Most likely the chambered round is stuck for some reason. Is it a reload or different than other ammo you have used? Is the chamber dirty?

In any case, the best way to clear the problem is simply to fire the gun, but if that is not possible, try to find something you can press the front of the gun against, like a block of wood. With the safety ON (down), hold the gun pointing away from you and push the gun against the wood with the slide but not the barrel touching the wood. Then hit the backstrap of the gun hard with the heel of your hand and the slide should come back. I don't recommend using a door or door frame, as you can chip the wood. A piece of scrap 2x4 is better.

I have had this happen with 45acp reloads. The oal was too long and the lead bullet stuck in the rifleing. Left a mess with spilled powder when I got it open.

The gun is a straight blow-back action.

So, you can stick a brass rod down the barrel and knock the slide open with a sharp push of the rod against a bench top of something.

Just don't pull the trigger with the rod in the barrel!!!

Two good solutions, Shoot it, or knock it open, again careful to contact the slide, and not the fixed barrel in that PPK...

again, SAFETY ON, On the Walther PP model pistols, the safety has nothing to do with slide function or lock as in some others, like the 1911. You may be able to firmly grip the pistol, like you were going to shoot it, (finger OFF the trigger) and push into the 2x4 and get it to come open... Failing in that, a light tap with a soft piece of wood, again a 2x4 would work well, it has some mass, so light taps should do it.. Striking it on the spur part of the frame just behind the hammer, the upper curved part of the grip at the point behind the hammer.

Wear safety glasses at least...safe backstop, and don't put any part of your body forward of the muzzle...

Or if your not within the city limits, take it in the back yard, point it into the ground, put a pillow over it so it does not scare the neighbors, or run the cat off, and pull the trigger. Sounds like an ammo issue, the Walthers are really very well designed guns, well proven.. I own 4 or 5 of them, carried one as a back up, off duty piece since, 1978 or so... Love em.. Never had a failure with any of them...
