I've been trying to get an image approved for my credit card at CapitalOne for awhile and they keep denying it. I finally got to speak with someone today that said that any firearm in an image will cause it to be denied, not just the "illegal firearm use" as specified in their public rules. Here's the image that I tried to get on my card:

I usually charge about $2K on the card each month. When they told me that they would not approve it, I told them that it was an insult to veterans who had served with the M1911 and as such they could cancel my card immediately.

If they had not provided the capability to submit your own image on the card, that would be one thing, but to provide the capability and then to deny certain images like this is completely unacceptable... Here's another one that CapitalOne denied for someone else:

No, CapitalOne is anti-controversy.

They deny all sorts of images.
Considering the fact that my card normally just used for online orders and through the customer-swipe terminals at stores / gas stations, it shouldn't generate any controversy no matter what I had on it. As a veteran, I consider it an insult and figure that I should make it public.

I canceled my Capital One credit card a long time back. For many reasons. This being but one of several. I will never have another Capital One card in my pocket. Of that you can be very very certain. YMMV

They only gave 1% cash back on the transactions anyway and I have other credit cards that give that much of a rebate, so it really wasn't much of a loss to do it. I just had to go to the trouble of changing all of my automatic payments from going to the CapitalOne card to another card...

Each month I had approximately the following going there:

$400 -- Electricity
$400 -- Health insurance
$50 -- internet
$50 -- satellite tv
$50 -- natural gas
$200 -- water bill for two properties

That's $1150... Plus gasoline, restaurants, air fares, etc... It adds up after awhile...

I get offers for their card regularly in the mail. I wasn't considering them, but now I know for sure I never will. :)

Anti-Gun, perhaps, but more likely just too afraid to cause a news story...as far as anti-military, i don't see it...no offense intended...

As a veteran, you should read the fine print before getting huffy.

OK, if I owned an original M1911 or -A1, it would have been a bit more obvious that they were anti-military, but the Kimber was the closest that I had and I figured that after a bit of photo manipulation, it wouldn't be too noticeable especially at the size that it was going to be printed... The denying of the M1911 along with the text of "Duty, Honor, Country" is what I consider anti-military...

I absolutely hate Captial One. They ar a terrible company to work with. But I have to admit that I have their card - it's my only credit card. I only keep it due to the low locked in interest rate at 6%.

I charge very little per month and I immediately pay it off, so the interest rate is largely irrelevant. While I realize the interest rate is irrelevant I intend on getting rid of it and getting a card through a different carrier.

I DO NOT LIKE CAPITAL ONE!

So, "Duty, Honor, Country" is considered "controversial subject matter"?

Only for the leftists out there...

It's MacArthur right? It's political speech, so verboten.

Only for the leftists out there...

Eh?
The military rhetoric of "Duty, Honor, Country" is ancient, universal and predates any fallacious left/right political divides.

For the untrained person, that CIWS is just another scary big gun...
-I know I seem to be playing devils advocate here, but I STRONGLY dislike pulling the "ANTI-MILITARY" card unless the evidence is clear...

I'm glad you stopped doing business with them. I agree - you should vote with your wallet.

Just an observation...when I worked for a major credit card-issuing bank in Delaware in the mid-1990s, the general rule was that it took someone to charge in excess of $36,000/year for the account to be profitable -- unless, of course, they were carrying a balance. (And that was in 1996 dollars.)

You expect some minimum wage worker at CapitalOne to know anything about a M1911A1 and its history???

Anti-gun maybe, but anti-military, based on the picture you submitted, is a FAR stretch of the imagination.

Now if you'd submitted a Marine Corps or Army Rangers emblem, and they rejected it, maybe...

The West Point motto is off limits because it is trademarked.
