" the homeowner walked into a closet, got his .9-mm gun and shot Martinez , striking him once in the chest"

I guess the 9mm has a one shot stopping power after all.

That happens in Mich also, common thing now is to randomly break into homes during the day and live there for a few hours. One punk got caught while in the shower, homeowner locked him in and then beat the punk with a hammer, then called the cops.

LOL

aww come on, the guy just wanted a hot pocket to round out free top shelf night!

the homeowner walked into a closet, got his .9-mm gun and shot Martinez , striking him once in the chest, Caron said.

I think a 1mm round would have been overkill in this situation. Too much penetration, you know?

And yet another good, dead bad guy! Good shooting! One less piece of useless, human debris on the planet!

The snow footprints indicate that he tried the doors on more than twenty houses before he found one he could easily break into.

...highlighting the need for a good, hardened exterior. I'm glad the homeowner and his family are safe, but think about the 20 people who had a hardened enough perimeter that they weren't put in the position of having to shoot someone. I'd always rather be the guy who didn't have to kill someone, even in self-defense.

My sister went into her living room one night and found a guy sleeping on her couch in his own vomit. When the police got there he acted like he was good friends with my BIL. Lexington Ky.
They think my home defense ideas make a bit more sense now.

....no, the .9mm has one shot stopping power, and that has never been up for debate...it has specifically been banned by the Hague Conventions for use in war due to the damage it inflicts ;)

I spent most of that day at Rangemasters of Utah, which is located in Springville. I've been stuck at home after a shoulder surgery and needed to get out. Spent my day chewing the fat with people and cleaning displays. I've never seen the range that busy on a weekday. Even had a TV news crew come in and interviewed a customer who was there to shoot.

It's always unfortunate when somebody gets shot, but I'd always prefer that a law abiding citizen walks away and the criminal nutjob doesn't.
