Hit the big 45 last week, so to celebrate I bought a new sixgun in .45 Colt. My first single action was a Hawes Western Marshal, which if I understand what I've read, is this EAA Bounty Hunters "ancestor"? I've never owned an EAA, and wanted to give one a try, so I found some on Gunbroker.com.
4.5" nickel plated, which is a pain to photograph!
Action is tight, cylinder locks up solid, it's transfer bar safety action out of the box is very much like the converted Ruger action that it is, I think they pay Ruger a license fee to use it? But you can load a full 6!
I don't have the stuff to measure it, but compared to other single actions I own, the trigger pull is a bit heavy. No creep and it breaks clean, but it does take getting used to.
Haven't been able to get out and shoot it, since I picked it up Tuesday evening, my area has been hit with a EF4 tornado that killed 6 people in a town about 14 miles away, Harrisburg, IL. that you may have seen on the news, and then more severe storms today, so between that and helping as much as I can with disaster relief for Harrisburg, I haven't been able to go shoot. Hoping by early next week I can, and will report on how it goes then.
Aside from the heavy trigger pull, initial impression are good, it seems to be well built, and the grips actually are very nice looking walnut.
